Paltry Gwyneth

Over two years ago, in a post entitled Nice Jewish Girl, I posted how Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow was getting back to her Jewish roots.
Gwyneth Paltrow has started taking her Jewish roots seriously after missing out on two years of fasting during the religion’s high holy days.
The actress was pregnant with baby Apple in 2003 and breastfeeding her daughter in 2004, so she made sure she honoured Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in style in 2005.
And Paltrow plans to pay tribute to her ancestors every year from now on.
Now, as blogger Debbie Schlussel shows, she isn’t doing a very good job. Unless she was descended from Neturei Karta.

as much as i dislike gwyneth – and believe me, i do, the acting, the lefty airheadedness, the simpering nebbisch husband – i dislike debbie schlussel more. she is obnoxious, rude, aggressive and not terribly bright. paltrow did wasn’t doing this to “raise money for hamas”, she surely was motivated out of concern for palestinian kids. unfortunately as we know palestinian charities are not very accountable, but most people, paltrow one of them, are quite ignorant of this. debbie schlussel should do something more constructive with her time than savaging misguided celebrities. what a harpy
While Debbie’s style is certainly not my cup of tea, she is anything but unintelligent.
And yes, perhaps Paltrow is ignorant but so what? People stepping in to the Middle East conflict better make sure they are informed, since there is too much at stake.
Did you know she’s descended from the Tur? Her father’s last name, “Paltrow”, is based on Paltrowitz (sp?), the city the Tur was from.
Looking further into it, I doubt Paltrow is any sort of a Jewish girl. Her mother appears to have been a Quaker.
