That is the statue, in the Golan Druze town Majdal Shams, of Sultan Pasha Al Atrash, a Syrian nationalist who led the 1920s Syrian revolution against the French.
I wonder if the word “embiggens” is a real word in Arabic and if so, is it written at the base of the statue?
