Sorry to belabor, but I still don't understand why one gets five years in jail for a prohibition on the level of eating beans on Passover.

(Not personally. Besides being a loyal Ashkenazi, my one wife is far more than I deserve, and I have no intention of jeapordizing that!)

Yes, yes I know.

Polygamous we are, polyandrous we are not.

I tihnk they have a much more humane way of dealing with these things here. For example, if you come here with multiple wives, you can stay married. While in the U.S., there was a heart-rending scene in which a Jewish refugee from Syria and his two wives went to the Rabbi to ask which he should divorce.

Similarly, you get to take off your own Sabbath and holidays here, while in the U.S. the Supreme Court actually said that only Sunday can be recognized (although they did allow some protection for Saturday-observers to remain).

I see.

The problem here is that it's not the WOMAN who would get to have multiple spouses, it's the man. She would still be required to be monogamous even if Judaism were currently openly polygamous.

Just a throwaway line. She was quoted as such.

Unlike Christianity, Judaism does not consider polygamy immoral. Most communities do prohibit it by custom, although it is not clear why, at least for Ashkenazim, who had the custom first. You can get five years in jail here for it, which strikes me as ridiculous, given that (AFAIK), there is no penalty for adultery.

It's wonderful that she is so open about proud of her heritage–at least proud enough to be open about it–in these days growing more and more anti-Semitic all over the world and here in America. It's just too bad she's so morally unsound (meaning she's learned/learning nothing from the Judaism she lays claim to) and is a total Obama zombie. Remember, she claimed to be having a writing correspondence back when Obama was on the campaign trail. She was utterly and completely smitten. Her fixation on it became so bad Obama had to issue a statement that he had only only written her ONE note thanking her for her support and that he didn't have any further contact with her.

I think she has a lot of growing up to do.
