Live Streaming Video from Israeli Air Force Base
Update: You can read what the real journalists wrote all over the place. My observations. It’s a big scary machine. Parked next to an F15, the Heron UAV has a bigger wingspan and is longer. It’s a big piece of kit. This is not a remote controlled toy with a camera. And while the press are all publishing images taken from the press kit they handed out, here is a real original shot I took myself as it flew by.
Tomorrow (Sunday 21st February) the Israeli Air Force is holding a press (and thanks to the amazing IDF Spokesperson’s Office) and bloggers event to demonstrate Israeli’s newest Unmanned Aerial vehicle (UAV). This event is scheduled to start at 13:15 Israel time which is 11:15 GMT, 06:15 on the East Coast of the US and too early for anyone on the West Coast to get up for!
I will take along my iPhone and try to stream the event live from Ustream. When I start sending video I will put a tweet out on my twitter stream: @brianoflondon .
When the show goes live, I believe it will appear here too:
Video clips at UstreamNow if this thing somehow goes all Green Goblin on us then that’s going to be some kind of crazy stream isn’t it!

Let's see, that's 5 in the morning my time. Hmmmm, not sure I can make it but I'll try. So this UAV is something developed by the IDF? Sounds like it might be similar to our Predator drones which have been picking off the leadership of Al Qaeda and the Taliban (and some unfortunate misfires killing civilians as well) in Pakistan the last few years. This seems to be a more effective way of fighting Al Qaeda, anyway. Why send 30,000 more American soldiers to Afghanistan when you can apply effective technical support to friendly local Afghans and Pakistanis who now see it as in their own self-interests to defeat Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

I hear these drones can reach Iran.
Remote controlled toys with cameras were developed by Israel 30 years ago and used in the First Lebanon War. At that time, they were considered a major technological advance.
Real jounalists? You're a real journalist. Those guys are the wanna-bes.
