I'm not into PC, but sometimes their concepts are useful. I think self-identification is a good thing to use.

I know they dont have conversion. I suppose they dont want to be associated, but sociologically (Or w/e it is), they are considered Arab. As I said, it works both ways. And I still think they're an awesome people.

I actually asked our driver today. He said that the Druze are a distinct group, and that’s how they want to stay. They don’t even have conversion.

Well you see it better than me. I'm not sure I would say solid Arab in the same sense, but some subgroup. Perhaps there is just a large sociological/anthropological debate about.

What we can always do is say these were the people that were here originally and they actually quite like Jews.

What I've seen "on the ground" is that they don't. Actually, a large percentage of their speech is now Hebrew, and language is really the final identification of "Arab".

However, your point is still valuble.

Wiki reports whats in the field and what I've read is basically the facts on the ground about Jews. Groups like the Falasha Mura and Igbo are left as speculation.

I think some Druze may. Some may not.

I hope she understands that Israelis vote for the party, not the candidate. Even if by some chance she is elected to the Knesset on a party list, there is no guarantee that she will be included in any governing coalition, much less elevated to the top spot.

There's a difference between classification and identity (not that I'd trust wiki on either – would you try to answer "who is a Jew" based on wikipedia?). As far as I can tell, these people don't self-identify as Arabs.

Wikipedia and most sources appear to classify them as an Arab group. Saying they're not Arab is like saying Christian Arabs are not Arab.

There are advantages to both sides. By saying theyre Arab, you can show youre not racist or that there are moderate Arabs. By saying theyre not Arab, you can say that Arabs are savages and deserve ridicule.
