Let's just stick with Israel, and consider A.Sharon, M.Begin, and Y. Shamir. Sharon was globally shamed from the Israeli cabinet and held responsible in the Hague for the massacre in the Sabra & Shatilla Palestinian refugee camps in Beirut. Shamir & Begin were founding members of Irgun & Haganah, groups recognized by the U.N. ('46-'48) as "terrorist organizations". All three of these 'gentlemen' were honored as war heroes and elected Israeli Prime Ministers as such.

It is because it is the most holy place in the world and the Arabs coveted it. WHAT IN GOD'S NAME IS THE MATTER WITH YOU GIRL? QUIT WORYING ABOUT THE Arabs that are in a plight because of themselves. They brought about the situation the Arabs are in not ISrael. Plese learn a little going back to the 17 or 1100's even to gain the significance of Israel and why the Arabs covet it so much. Julia, I too, am puzzled by your post. I am very much in favor of a two-state solution and have crossed swords with many people who participate on Dave's blog on all sorts of things. But your willingness to give the Palestinians a complete pass on honoring terrorist suicide bombers by naming a square after them is puzzling. I know some on the left believe George Washington is somehow a war criminal and they want to remove his name from everything (the rationale for this at the moment escapes me, maybe because he owned slaves?) I hope you are not one of these people.
