I think he may even have been there when it was acquired under the Turks. At that time, our authorities did not listen to him. Y'know, I was thinking over the week-end. You know those people who appear with those huge keys they say was the key to their house in "Palestine". Wouldn't prop-key manufacture be a great business opportunity?

When Israel re-captured Chevron in '67, a Jewish man appeared there with the original deed to the Hadassah Hospital building. We were given a tour of the hadassah hospital and afterward toured the city a little. I saw many jews walking around and living there. I could be mistaken as it was a long time ago but I still remember seeing this old guy tell a group of little kids some biblical story. And they were sitting in the very heart of hebron! So although there was a time period where jews did not live there, there have always been time periods in the history of israel where jews did not live there. But jews kept going back. Hebron is one of the many cities that I don't see a reason for there to be an issue of jews living there since we have a rich historical heritage in hebron. Give the arabs nazareth, I don't care, but lay off our jerusalem, hebron, and for that matter, beit lechem. Rachel is CLEARLY our matriarch since all of Isaac's wives contributed to the jewish people. I get it if they want to share hebron, but they have NO right to take our beit lechem.

I remember going to hebron right before the intifada.
