A Belated Blogiversary

I just realized that March 3rd represented 8 years of Israellycool. I believe that makes this blog one of the first English-langage Israeli blogs.

During that time, I’ve put up over 7,500 posts (generating almost 30,000 comments), and made some great friends as well as my fair share of enemies. I’ve also managed to avoid severe blogger’s burnout, although I have come close to throwing in the towel a number of times.

Importantly, I have seen readership steadily grow over the years, and have received feedback indicating that as a result of this blog, people have been influenced to support Israel. Which makes it all worthwhile.

That calls for a L’chaim.

  1. Cheers for the years Aussie Dave!!

I can't remember when I first started visiting here, maybe 2004/5? What I can say is that I have visited this blog nearly every single day since.

I spent a long time looking for a decent source on Israel, because I had met israelis and because of my own experience with the military in Britain I knew that a lot of what was being said in the media was implausible.

Some of your blogging helped me to gain a deeper understanding of the Middle East, encouraged me to do my own research and that has helped me to change a few peoples pre-conceived notions about Israel.

    It's invaluable.

  2. L’chaim indeed, it is a great service you are providing and I look forward to checking in with Israellycool everyday…… congratulations!
