Ynet reports:
We’re just six weeks away from the much-anticipated royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The couple will have a traditional Anglican ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
However, to honor the multicultural British society, the event will feature a number of pre- and post-wedding rituals from different cultures and religions – including a Jewish tradition: The Chronicle is reporting that Prince William will step on and smash a glass.
No word yet on whether they will also include the common Arab/Muslim tradition of stepping on and smashing a Jew.
Update: Turns out this is a joke, done in the spirit of Purim.
NB Purim Spiel alert… As keen-eyed readers will have gathered, this was a joke to mark this weekend’s Purim festival. All too plausible: even St James’ Palace was taken in. We still think it’s a good idea…
Now I know how Richard Silverstein feels. At least from the point of view of being tricked by a Purim hoax. As for being a hateful old codger, he’s on his own.
