Occupied With Their Antisemitism

Not to be outdone by their East Coast brethren, some Occupy Los Angeles folk show they also dabble in the mystical art of antisemitism (hat tip: PJM).

Meanwhile, all the way Down Under, some Occupy Melbourne folk managed to show their true BDS-hole colors.

Update: Not surprisingly, look who else hearts Occupy Wall Street (hat tip: corrcomm).

Update: Another antisemitic protester at Occupy Wall Street LA.

Conservative talk show hosts Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and now (apparently) Aussie Dave have characterized Occupy Wall Street as anti-Semitic. Are you aware there were Yom Kippur services held in several American cities at these Occupy Wall Street events with hundreds of congregants participating? Are you aware there is video and eye-witness accounts that anti-Semitic comments and signs have been challenged and condemned by other participants? Are you aware there are any number of Jewish congregations openly supporting these Occupy Wall Street events? The whole world is watching, so it’s worth the effort to get this significant international movement described accurately and in full context.

No Jim, I blogged about antisemitism on display at these events but did not characterize everyone there as antisemitic. If you have proof of people there challenging these displays, then I will gladly post it.

There is an undeniable effort by the political right-wing in this country to discredit Occupy Wall Street. This is in keeping with the reflexive, reactionary nature of the American conservative movement. I honestly don’t know what the participants of this grassroots movement want to happen specifically. There is no clear, consistent message that I am hearing from these people other than displeasure in the current inequities in our economic system our two-party political system has created. Just as the Tea Party has been co-opted by the Republican Party, Occupy Wall Street may well be absorbed into the president’s re-election effort. My hope is that this movement will lead to efforts by our national government to be more responsive to the needs of middle class and working people.

“There is an undeniable effort by the political right-wing in this country to discredit Occupy Wall Street.”

Nah, they don’t need to. The smelly hippies are doing it all by themselves.

“This is in keeping with the reflexive, reactionary nature of the American conservative movement.”

Because reliving the 1960s is sooooo progressive and forward-looking. /sarc

“My hope is that this movement will lead to efforts by our national government to be more responsive to the needs of middle class and working people.”

Um… that’s what the Tea Party is for. What are the middle class and working people going to make a living from when everything that moves is regulated and taxed dry? Neo-Communist economic policies are the most hostile to the middle class and working people, even though a lot of people have been duped into thinking otherwise.

You sound like that slave-driving owner of the pajama factory, old man Hassler, in “The Pajama Game.” Don’t you know collective bargaining built the middle class in America? Seven and a half cents doesn’t buy a heck of a lot. Seven and a half cents doesn’t mean a thing. But give it to me every hour, every week of every year, and that’s enough for me to be living like a king! I figured it out. And one more thing–You can’t bust me; I’m stickin’ with the Union.

              You know everything.

Any number of REFORM congregations, which is barely Jewish. Real Jews wouldnt knowingly support a neobolshevik movement.

Reform congregations are barely Jewish?!!? Oy vey!

  • juvanya

Well at least they have it somewhat targetted right in opposing the Fed…
