Is Welfare Scammer Related To Doucheblogger?

Update: For those coming here from Richard Silverstein’s post, note how I am not claiming anything in this post. Rather, I have posed a question, which is my right like any blogger. Unlike Silverstein himself, I do not make false allegations and then back away from them after the damage is already done.

The Daily Mail reports about a wealthy Jewish couple who abused the system.

A wealthy chiropractor who has been in practice for more than 20 years and his wife were living in a $1.2million waterfront home while claiming almost $2,000-a-month welfare benefits and even food stamps, according to documents.

A civil lawsuit has been filed against David Silverstein and Lyudmila Shimonova, from Seattle, who are accused of making false claims  which included more than $1,200 in public housing vouchers, plus state and government disability cheques and even food stamps.

Prosecutors are demanding they pay back more than $135,000 in federal housing assistance since 2003 and are seeking tens of thousands of dollars in fines.
It is thought the couple have spent some of the money they claimed over the last eight years flying to Moscow, Paris, Israel, Turkey, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

All the while, federal authorities say, the couple was collecting more than $100,000 in welfare.

Shimonova also received benefits under the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, as well as Social Security cash reserved for people who can’t work due to age or disability and whose assets fall below a certain threshold – $3,000 for a married couple or $2,000 for a single person, the complaint said.

‘Defendants have separately and, it appears, in conjunction with one another made false representations to various state and federal agencies in order to obtain federally funded benefits,’ assistant U.S. attorneys Harold Malkin and Kayla Stahman wrote.

Meanwhile, they were traveling the world, according to Department of Homeland Security records.

On his website, Silverstein states: ‘I am happily married with two children, whose careers are in medicine and Middle Eastern studies

When I first read this report, I wondered if this David Silverstein was related to DouchebloggerTM Richard Silverstein – not solely because of the surname but because they both live in Seattle, as well as the reference to a child with a career in “Middle Eastern studies.” Although judging by the photo, I did not really suspect him of being Dickie’s father, since he looks younger than him.

Someone who is claiming he’s Dickie’s father is this anti-Israel numbskull.

Besides the issue with their relative appearances, there is a bigger problem with this claim. Dickie’s father is dead.

My dad, Jule Silverstein died in December, 1995. He was born (1925) and raised at 103 Hudson Avenue in Haverstraw, NY. He attended Haverstraw High School. After graduation, he enrolled in the Navy in 1943. He married in 1950 and started teaching in the Haverstraw (later North Rockland) School District in the early 1950s. He taught social studies in the District until his retirement in 1989. He had a family of five sons of which I’m the oldest. Dad died in Lake Worth, FL of a cerebral hemmorage in December, 1995.

The question for me is are they brothers?

On Dickie’s Facebook page, he has 3 brothers listed.

But according to the above blog post on his father, Silverstein claims to be the oldest of five. Is David the missing brother?

I’d be interested to hear from any of my readers who know the Silversteins one way or the other, and have any idea whether David and Dickie are related.

The relevance?

If they are related, it would beg the question why Dickie – who claims he is trying to “repair the world” – has kept dad mum on this topic.

If not, it is still a good illustration of how the anti-Israel crowd (in this case, the numbskull who posted the above Youtube video) fabricate in order to pursue their antisemitic or anti-Israel agendas.

Update: There does seem to be a David in Silverstein’s family. Here is a photo from 8 years ago. The man does not look identical to the man in the above photo, but it could be the result of the glasses and 8 years.

  1. Using the same standards as our buddy, let him prove he is not related or part of the scandal. Until Dickie proves his non-involvement, GUILTY as charged

  2. If Richard Silverstein is the oldest of 5 brothers, David would not be his brother.

According to Ancestry.com, David was born in 1944, which would make him 67. Richard is 59. Richard’s father was born 1925 so David would have been born when Jule was 18 or 19. While it’s certainly possible to become a father at 18, Jule was in the Navy in 1944 and had been for at least a year so it’s extemely unlikely, even if Dickie has an older brother he doesn’t like to talk about.
