Calling All Better Place Owners
I’ve decided to set up a Twitter account and a Facebook page to act as an independent community for Owners of Better Place cars. For now these will be only in Israel but soon it will expand to the world [cue evil laugh]!
This is the Twitter account: @BPOwners
The Facebook group is here: Better Place Owners
I’d like to invite you to follow or join (like) those if you are now, will be soon or would like to think you might someday be and owner of the Better Place Electric Vehicle!

I understand your motives and your logic behind this electric car decision, Brian. And I applaud your decision to buy an electric car. But would it kill you to mention that this is also good for the environment and reduces your own carbon footprint? This is particularly important for reluctant people like Shy Guy who probably has a carbon footprint the size of someone wearing enormous clown shoes.
I don’t give a flying fig about carbon footprints because I believe man created carbon is irrelevant. Since catalytic converters and the removal of lead from petrol, I’m reasonably happy that the emissions from well maintained cars can be easily justified by the massive benefit they give us in terms of living a lifestyle I want to live. Having said that there is a massive visual difference in the air quality in Israel on the day after Yom Kippur when all the cars have been parked for 25 hours. But I’m also inclined to believe that the lack of diesel trucks, buses and trains has a bigger part in that than efficient modern small cars like my current Honda Civic.
There are, of course, emissions associated with generating the electricity that will power my car, but as those don’t happen next to me that is better for me. I’m also inclined to believe that central production of electricity is a better thing than local production of kinetic energy (but the maths on this is complex and not clear cut: the internal combustion engine and liquid fuel are really very efficient).
So if people want to believe in the Carbon Monster, good luck to them and the Better Place car is a firm winner. I’m validating my decision on completely different grounds and, I guess, I didn’t write about the other stuff you mention because I think those points are over-covered in a multitude of other places, not least of which is Better Place’s own marketing materials!
