They are imitating the American version and jokes. American jokes are believable in English. In this show they, as Israelis, the jokes appear embarrassingly awkward and forced.

I enjoy the show especially the ladies think they missed with the Actor whom plays Ed Bundy, pity like him in other productions.

Sorry, I wasn’t being clear. I’m glad there are many Israeli Jewish Nobel Prize winners. It’s just, when some people hail it as the rebuilding of the Temple, I think they’re overdoing it.

And I’d also be happier if fewer Nobel Prize winners used their achievements as a platform to voice political opinions I don’t like, the way Chechanover and the other one did after winning their prize. It’s like the way I view aging halutsim, the pioneers who made the Palestinian desert bloom in the first half of the 20th century: With apprehension, because far too many of them hypocritically slam the Jewish post-1967 inhabitations.

The day an Israeli Jewish scientist discovers a viable way of making nuclear fusion power work will be a day of great celebration for me. I just want to keep things in proportion, that’s all.

The Nobel Prizes may not be Israel’s reason for being, but the underlying scientific and intellectual achievements behind them are, as per Herzl’s “Altneuland.” (Forget the Peace Prize, which is political and was debased by the Arafat award.) Indeed, the viability of Israel’s economy depends on its advances in science and technology, and an occasional Nobel serves as a boost to its marketing position.

Why would this tv show fail? It sounds like a successful formula that is tried and true, ie take an American series that is/was a ratings winner and just replicate it for an Israeli audience. Plus it has universal themes of flatulance, promiscuity, and the lives of married couples who have entered middle age as combatants rather than lovers. How can they lose?

Nothing shocking anymore. What with Kokhav Nolad (=American Idol), Icheh (=Archie Bunker), Ha’akh Hagadol (=Big Brother), Mi Rotseh Lihyot Milyoner (=Who Wants To Be A Millionaire), sending competitors to the Olympics and taking pride in winning Nobel Prizes (which, to be sure, is nice but it’s not the Jewish nation’s reason for being), this addition to the string of attempts to imitate goyish culture (much of which even the goys are tired of) no longer brings out gasps of horror, only yawns.
