I watched the BBC coverage and was quite shoked when Huw Edwards, one of the co-commentators, and a news anchor at the Beeb, mentioned that the Israeli Delegation (while entering the stadium) were commemorating the death of the 11 israeli athletes in Munich.

Granted he didn’t mention the words Palestinian, Terrorists, etc… but it’s more than the IOC and LOCOG did…

I say well done to him !

The Israeli team should have gone against the IOC and had the athletes carrying the pictures of the murdered and maybe had 11 black bands around the flagpole of incorporated their names into their uniforms and the flag.

I don’t think the IOC could get away with punishing that.

The IOC is a disgrace. But it’s not just them. Imagine what will happen if FIFA lets their guard down and Israel, by some miracle qualifies for the World Cup in Qatar. The whole team wouldn’t be allowed off the plane with their Israeli passports. How athletes can get away with boycotting a competitor, and how a country which bans entry to another country in the competition, can bid and win such an event, is beyond he.

I had no idea what they were memorialising while I watched live with the Hebrew commentary. I was there in London on that morning. I only avoided being on one of those trains by miraculously taking an alternative route.

I distinctly remember that it was the day after the announcement of the winning of the 2012 bid because I was working with someone whose husband led the Accenture team on the winning bid.

Nevertheless it had almost nothing to do with the Olympics and they avoided any coverage of who blew up all those people and why they did it.

They can’t remember Munich without trying to draw a moral equivalence between Israeli victims and Arab murders. The IOC is disgusting.

they memorialized the victims of 7/7…which is a good thing, even if they didnt mention who killed those poor people.

ioc had no prob with that…guess it was ok cuz they also bought out mr bean

nbc is taking some heat for breaking to commercial rather than show the memorial…whatever
