Cancer Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
A week and a half ago, I blogged about my wife’s illness and the tough road that lies ahead.
Now my wife has decided to return to her own blog after a long hiatus to blog about it.
Excerpt:
So there you have it. I had cancer. I’m 36. I was the poster girl for good health… and yet I, Erika, mother of 5 young children, am going to experience 6 months of chemotherapy and all the trimmings. I’ve joined a new club that NO ONE wants to be a member of – the Cancer Club, and I have to say… right now, I’m at the absolute highest peak of love and enthusiasm for life! I am overjoyed to be here. I’m scared and worried about the future and yet, I have never felt more loved, embraced, and optimistic! I’m more in love with my DH than ever before. I feel more love and joy for my family and friends… and I have discovered that cancer makes the heart grow fonder.

Dave,
We’ve never met, and I never know what to say in these situations, but with all my heart I wish you guys all the best.
Thanks mate. And I realize you are an Aussie, so I already know I like you
We’re gonna get you two together when I get back from London. And then we’ll all discuss olympic medal counts.
wishing you and yours all the best Dave, shes an absolute trooper, you’ll get through this.
Also wishing you a speedy recovery from Oz. Some people tolerate chemo ok. Stay positive, grit your teeth and get through it and then everything will be back to normal. Also, ask the doctors about genetic testing!! (could be life saving).
Sometimes I think it’s all about your state of mind. I have a blood disorder, and have recently started acupuncture. I feel a lot better. Am I really better? How know, who cares. I feel great. Sounds like your wife’s head is in the right place. Sure sign of good tidings.
I earnestly wish it were in my power to do something tangible on your behalves, but I can only wish for your wife’s recovery.
Wishing you a speedy and full recovery Erika!
Your kids are really cute!
all my prayers for a full recovery for Erika, so Aussie Dave and the kids can have Mom back as soon as possible!
and Aussie Dave, you should know that you are performing such an important service with israellycool. you inspire and entertain a lot of us, and we love you for it. keep fighting the good fight.
R E F U A S H L E M A !! May Erika have a full and speedy recovery, and enjoy many more years with your family!!
