Give Me the Gold!

So writes my wife:

Cancer is a hurdle, a test, that’s going to push me to my limit and I’m going to train for it and then smash it like a gold medalist at the Olympics. I’ll set my goals as high as they go and break every record….

My, life is good! It’s a Beautiful Day! Cue music a-la U2,

“You love this town
Even if that doesn’t ring true
You’ve been all over
And it’s been all over you

It’s a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away
It’s a beautiful day”

… cue record scratch! SCREECH!

Read what happens next and my wife’s amazing attitude here.

U2, huh? Well, whatever works for you, Erika. It would have to be show tunes for me. Something by Mark Shaiman or “The Book of Mormon.”

Dave, again, wishing your wife a refuah shlema, and hoping you’ll forgive an almost trivial question.

Is your wife’s mother’s second name Etta (with a segol) or EEta (with a chirik)? I’ve seen both names from time to time. Is it spelled with an ayin or an alef? Am I correct that the T is a tet, not a tav?

Thank you. I want to make sure I get this right for the mi sh’berach list and for shemoneh esreh.

understandable. IMagine that Gold medal as the Lord. A really large medal she can’t penetrate, and her nasty arrows or bullets can’t get through. They just bounce right off.
    Praying for you in Melbourne.
