Hamas has uploaded a video to YouTube, showing their terrorists firing rockets at Israel.
From within their own population areas.
Thanks guys, for showing the world how you care less for your own people than you do for killing Jews. Not to mention why there are invariably palestinian civilian casualties when the IAF targets your rocket launchers and other terrorist infrastructure.

They are confident, and with good reason, that diplomats and the news media will ignore these trivialities.
Strategically, you have to wonder what they truly hope to gain by such rocket attacks. Does Hamas really think such attacks will weaken the resolve of the Israelis and they will turn and run away? Experience teaches them that just the opposite will happen. And yet they still fire rockets at innocent Israelis. I really think they just want to kill as many Jews as they can manage. There will never be a national homeland for such murderous thugs.
Correct – to your entire comment. Hamas got rid of Fatah in Gaza, and it’s not unrealistic they could do the same in West Bank, since no one is stopping them in Gaza. Given that, how can Israel contemplate moving borders to give these murderers closer access? No National Homeland for them means no 2 state solution. And if that’s easy to grasp, why doesn’t Obama grasp it?
Well, this is a bridge too far for me as well. I continue to hope (perhaps foolishly some might conclude) that there has to be some political solution to this long-standing conflict. I do not believe Hamas=Fatah=Islamic Jihad=Al Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade, etc., etc. If that were true, then I would have to admit that a political solution with the Palestinians is truly hopeless.
Jim, I never say never, but it may be a long, long time before it dawns on the Arabs that they have nothing to gain and everything to lose by continuing their eliminationism instead honestly coming to terms with Israel. I expect decades more of grasping at straws, unless they suffer a defeat in war so catastrophic that they have no other choice.
And you have just eloquently explained the phenomenon of socially minded, free thinking people becoming rather radically right wing when it comes to Israeli politics, especially if they are living in Israel. Those groups are not =, but they are powerful enough to hinder and suppress the “moderate” groups, ignoring the blood libels and hate taught by the “moderate groups” from early childhood. The facts on the ground: Israel left Gaza, gave the keys to Fatah, “The Moderate”. Not long after, Hamas crushed them and took over. What has the world inc US done to address this catastrophe? Leader of EU (the Nobel Prize winning one) has been their guest, blamIng Israel for the violence. Now it’s the Emir of Qatar visiting. Obama hasn’t visited, but he does know that it’s the settlements to blame for the lack of peace! The rockets disturbing the peace much? Apparently not Obama’s. He seems more bothered by that arrogant Bibi….Hamas – not so much. The people in West Bank are frustrated and restless. Their leaders are ineffective and are just getting fat off the people’s
misery. At least Hamas are doing something, just like their brothers in the Arab Spring, they think. Not too far from that is Hamas taking over West Bank. Now the same rockets are flying from across the road! Who could have foreseen that?
The pessimist’s view: the Peace process is dead. The optimist’s: it’s probably dead, but we’ll give it a chance, because just maybe it could happen. But for goodness sake, let’s not set up a foreseeable catastrophe, where Israel has no assurances, and those who want to destroy them, are armed to the teeth, and now across the road.
Is it like that deflated moment when you realised there is no Santa or tooth fairy?
More like discovering all the musical acts on “American Bandstand” were lip-synching their songs. Devastating.
Gaza has a local constituency it has to appease. It has to appear more salafist than the salafists else the salafists will kill them all and take over. This is why what Israel needs to do is fire 1 or 2 large artillery rounds into the most convenient high population density areas for every projectile to flies into Israel AND at the same time target all the mid level terrorist commanders. In the chaos they will kill and eat each other.
That would be nice. In the words of Tevye the Milkman “If they would agree, I would agree”. The only problem is, who would have Israel’s back if they did theemselves and the world this favour?
I think the strategy is just to stay in the game as a movement dedicated to the destruction of Israel. In that they have been successful.
