Hague You Are Evil And Sorry Obama

A few days ago I criticised the Obama Administration for remaining silent on the massive missile barrage that Hamas unleashed on the civilians in souther Israel (not one missile was recognisably directed anywhere near a military site). Yesterday, after Israel started it’s Pillar of Defence operation the US State Department issued this excellent statement:

Gaza Rocket Attacks

Mark C. Toner

Deputy Spokesperson, Office of the Spokesperson,Washington, DC, November 14, 2012

We strongly condemn the barrage of rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel, and we regret the death and injury of innocent Israeli and Palestinian civilians caused by the ensuing violence. There is no justification for the violence that Hamas and other terrorist organizations are employing against the people of Israel. We call on those responsible to stop these cowardly acts immediately. We support Israel’s right to defend itself, and we encourage Israel to continue to take every effort to avoid civilian casualties.

Hamas claims to have the best interests of the Palestinian people at heart, yet it continues to engage in violence that is counterproductive to the Palestinian cause. Attacking Israel on a near daily basis does nothing to help Palestinians in Gaza or to move the Palestinian people any closer to achieving self determination.

No condemnation of Israel, no calls for restraint, just a free hand for Israel to act in the highly moral way they know we will to do what we have to do to keep ourselves safe.

So I’m eating humble pie, apologising (a bit) for my post and saying thank you to Obama, the State Department and the rest of the Administration.

Meanwhile, back in the UK they tweeted the following the day before Israel started.

[tweet https://twitter.com/ukinisrael/status/268244984380133376]

That seems to refer back to this statement on the 12th November, again, before Israel untied it’s hands.

And I saw it yesterday and lost my rag. At that point only Hamas was shooting. Why call on our restraint?

Violence in Gaza and southern Israel

12 November 2012

Foreign Secretary William Hague: “All sides need to demonstrate restraint to prevent a dangerous escalation that would be in no one’s interests.”

Commenting on rocket attacks by Palestinian militant groups on Israel and Israeli air-strikes on Gaza, the Foreign Secretary said:

“I am very concerned by the violence in Gaza and southern Israel, and the reported death of a number of civilians, including a child, in Gaza. I condemn the indiscriminate firing of over 100 rockets into Israel by Gaza-based militants. The UK supports the Egyptian Government in its efforts to achieve a ceasefire. All sides need to demonstrate restraint to prevent a dangerous escalation that would be in no one’s interests.”

This is how the UK establishment and media wants to work: fail to report the 100s of rockets on our civilians (with the tacit false excuse as that nobody gets hurt which today’s dead Jew’s proves wrong) and then scream when we fight back. Well thankfully YOU have alternative media so go out and spread the word with your Facebook pages and Twitter feeds. Tell everyone you know the TRUTH.

WE WON’T LIVE THIS WAY AND IT WILL END NOW.

  1. OK, this is something I’m happy to be wrong about. Let’s hope it stays that way. To be sure, no nation requires external approval to defend itself, not even the Jewish nation, but thanks all the same.

“Well thankfully YOU have alternative media…”

Unfortunately this isn’t enough, a lot of people still get their news only through MSM outlets, hence my insistence on the Jewish State’s duty to coerce those outlets to cease carrying water for Islamic imperialism, a duty that is every bit a part of the war effort as military campaigns.

  2. Hopefully it will last more than three days and that the US won’t ask the Israelis to withdraw once they are actually getting the job done. (so they would have to leave a job unfinished)

    1. Yes, I give Obama and his people credit for saying the right things even though his reelection has made him more “flexible.”

  3. They should go further and condemn Hamas having the rockets. Shame on Hague. Billions of dollars in aid is being spent on these rockets. The world is contributing to each and every Israeli being killed and injured. He supports Egypt? Why not make Egypt accountable for helping all the weapons get into the hands of Hamas?

  4. American media reporting on Israel confused as usual. Both Drudge and Breitbart are calling this Operation Pillar of Cloud but I read here and other Israeli media that it is Operation Pillar of Defense. Breitbart claims 85% of those eligible to vote in American election and living in Israel voted for Romney, yet Times of Israel reports it’s more like 55%. Don’t trust American rightwing media. They use Republican math and it doesn’t add up.

    1. “Both Drudge and Breitbart are calling this Operation Pillar of Cloud but I read here and other Israeli media that it is Operation Pillar of Defense.”

Drudge and Breitbart are the accurate ones. The name is taken from the Biblical account of the pillar of cloud (ammud he’anan, ???? ????) walking in front of the Israelites in the Sinai desert. Since the pillar was also a defense against enemies (the Egyptians etc.), “Pillar of Defense” isn’t entirely wrong, but “Pillar of Cloud” is accurate.

      1. Thanks for the clarification. I have heard from other sources (Huffpost?) that where Breitbart got the 85% support for Romney from voters living in Israel was some unnamed Israeli took election stubs from voting stations located in religious communities and extrapolated these numbers for the entire country. I can readilly believe that religious Jews would favor Romney over Obama 85% to 15%.

      2. “Pillar of Cloud” is the literal translation and makes perfect sense when talking to a Jewish audience, but “Pillar of Defense” is the translation given to the media because it would take a long time to tell people of the Biblical and Midrashic references. This is one of the lessons learned from Cast Lead, which was interpreted by the MSM as being bullets, while the correct allusion would be to the Bialik “Lich’vod Chanukah”, or “For the Glory of Chanukah”. Much like the outcome of that war, you can probably blame it on Olmert and Livni. Not coincidentally, I’m sure the successes of Pillar of Cloud/Defense (and so far, no one can argue that it isn’t successful) will also highlight the differences between Bibi and the Left regarding how to fight a war.

        1. Hey, wait a minute. I just read on Open Zion (Daily Beast) that this Pillar of Cloud stuff is really a story from the Talmud as an invocation to the Jewish people to become peacemakers in the world. So this Operation Pillar of Cloud language is really saying something more like Operation Wear Flowers In Your Hair. The IDF should come up with better names for these things.

Hague: Hamas to blame for escalating tension in Gaza and Israel

Palestinian Islamist group Hamas “bears principal responsibility” for escalating tension in Gaza and southern Israel, UK Foreign Secretary William Hague has said.

In a statement, Mr Hague said he deeply regretted “the loss of civilian life on both sides”.

Israel should do its “utmost to reduce tension”, the foreign secretary said.

But he added: “I utterly condemn rocket attacks from Gaza into southern Israel by Hamas and other armed groups.”

Three people were killed when rockets fired from Gaza struck southern Israel. Israel killed Hamas’ military chief in Gaza on Wednesday.

Rocket attacks from Gaza create “an intolerable situation for Israeli civilians in southern Israel, who have the right to live without fear of attack” and “also risk worsening the plight of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, which is already precarious”, he said.

“Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza should cease attacks against Israel immediately. I call on those in the region with influence over Hamas to use that influence to bring about an end to the attacks.

    1. I don’t think “Israel should do its utmost to reduce tensions” means Israel should do its utmost to reduce the tensions of over a million Israeli civilians pummeled by rockets, and respond by destroying all of Hamas terror capabilities. He is saying that Israel has the right to leave in peace but not the right to exercise that right.

  6. E Pluribus Beagle

Hague is angry that it’s not British rockets targeting Jews in Manchester and London. Maybe Hamas can lend him some.
