Man Down Man Down! #FreeBrian

Brian of London’s twitter account has been suspended!

For better or worse I engaged one of the enemy. After two tweets he blocked and marked me as a spammer. Unfortunately I believe this has happened before. The first time I was able to revive the account on my own. This time I have to open a support case which I’ve done. This may take some days to go through.

If any readers have any inside connections with Twitter, please get in touch. If you value my tweets, perhaps you can open a support case independently at ask where my account has gone.

I’m not going to give the identity of the person who did this as I will wait for the review process.

Let’s be careful out there.

UPDATE 19 Nov 2012 09:13:

I’ve now had two identical response notes back from Twitter’s “Zendesk” system (I’m not feeling the love….). They say I’ve been un-suspended (twice) but more than 8 hours later I’m still suspended. I’ve just sent in my third request. Fans of the late great Douglas Adams might like to look up the verb “throcking” in The Deeper Meaning of Liff.

I have now un-suspended your account. Please note that it may take an hour or so for your follower and following numbers to return to normal.

Be sure to review the Twitter Rules, as repeat violations may result in permanent suspension:

Thank you,

Zendesk

UPDATE 19 Nov 2012 15:52:

BrianOfLondon is still incarcerated in digital lock down. Many thanks to anyone who has tweeted on the #FreeBrian hash tag. Remember, I’m not a wapist or a webel or wobber. I’m just a very naughty boy.

Obviously Justinian Augustus is not my real name but my account aththawratu has been suspended too. They are targetting us for speaking the truth.

I haven’t broken any of Twitter’s rules, but its what they keep doing to silence us

  2. Jim from Iowa says:

Someone needs to start a self-help group for those addicted to Twitter, maybe Twitter Annonymous. Brian, just repeat after me: “I’m good enough. I’m smart enough. And doggone, people actually like me outside of the Twitterverse.”

  3. Abu Zibby says:

This is why Twitter is a crappy platform. A group who don’t like your tweets can easily get you suspended by mass reporting you as a spammer. The system is frequently abused to limit free speech.
    Don’t use twitter, it’s broken.

    • mzk1 says:

It’s not the only one. The other side is well organized and know how to work the system better. Even here in the Land of Israel they have more news agencies.

  4. walt kovacs says:

    its happened to me too.

maybe someday twitter will turn off the spam bot

i would suggest just setting up a new account

    thats what i did

i still get blocked, but i guess im no longer being labeled as a spammer….but i label anyone who blocks me as a spammer

  5. Gwillie says:

Twitter needs to have a rule to suspend ban people who make false spamming claims. If they haven’t already, But if they had it wouldn’t happen all the time.

    • Abu Zibby says:

AFAIK there are no plans to change the current system. Twatter is interested to keep spam bots out and the current banning policy works well against those. That the system is constantly abused is of no importance to Twitter right now.
Twitter is a crappy platform with tons of technical issues. Do Do yourself a favor, leave twitter to the Kardashians and move on to something serious. G+ has so far worked OK, as has WordPress. Best way though is to get your own website online and just use social media for republishing and backlinks.

  6. rulierose says:

I don’t know what I’m doing on twitter, but I’ve been replying to nasty tweets all day. wonder if I’ll be blocked too…

  7. Aly says:

I went to twitter to catch up on your tweets and they were all gone. You must have been stepping on toes. I’m sending up more prayers for your safety.
    @iluvscoops

  8. I’m taking a day off from social media. Maybe I’ll get more done.

    • juvanya says:

I do that every Saturday. Dont keep Shabbat unfortunately for a few reasons I hope to change soon, but I do keep off of facebook. I wish I could close mine down, but its my only medium to interact with people.

  9. Steve Bronfman says:

    It’s truly Orwellian and fascist.

I was banned from the http://www.unexplainedmysteries.com forum for pro-Israel, anti-Jihadist postings in their Middle-East forum.

    It’s a world gone mad.

  10. Are you still in lockdown?
