BBC Stereotypes

The BBC has a Middle East winter storm photo gallery.

So with all of Israel flooded, what photo does the BBC decide to use? The only one with an ultra-Orthodox Jew, of course.

That’s right, a group that is about 6% of the total population, is overrepresented in media coverage of every day life scenarios in Israel. They could have used one of the many human-less images, but they didn’t.

Stay classy biased BBC.

Afterthought: It doesn’t appear to be raining, and his umbrella is dry. Could this be a staged image?

About Judge Dan

Dan Smith has been exposing anti-Israel fallacies since the first time he opened the world wide web on Netscape Navigator, sometime in the late 90's. His lack of formal journalistic, political and sociological education means he is still capable of objective, unbiased views and opinions. A judge of media, pundits and media pundits.

The BBC would garner more fans if it showed Bar Refaeli modeling rainwear. Such stupidity.

You see an ultra orthodox man with an umbrella and I see a super uber orthodox sect member with an unusually large head covering. Who’s biased now, Aussie Dave?

  • David Smith

The BBC are scum, of course.

However the guy is a dead ringer for Charlton Heston as Moses in The Ten Commandments!

No rain on his unbrella! It’s a MIRACLE!

  • Inessa

Is he pretending to be talking into a non existent mobile phone? And where did they find someone with such a fake looking beard?

  • E Pluribus Beagle

We should happy they didn’t say he was a vampire shielding himself from the sun’s rays. You know, because ‘Zionists’ are bloodsuckers……

But to be fair, over on the CNN that had a large piece that covered the horrid weather in the Mideast, country by country WITHOUT mentioning Israel AT ALL.

Frosty the Snow Jew of Death?

Ha. Frosty has a ring to it.

Wait a minute — I thought that to the BBC, and image of any religious Jew, not just ‘ultra-Orthodox’ IS a human-less image!

By the way, why are we using NPR terms coined by sonei Yisrael like ultra-Orthodox rather, than chareidi? What’s next, referring to the Illegal Settlements in the the Occupied Territories, including Traditionally Arab East Jerusalem?

It’s not just the BBC. The Guardian has a picture gallery of the snow in Jerusalem, and every picture of Israelis is actually of haredim. Not one picture of a secular or kipa sruga Israeli.

    Typical.
