Jordanian Cartoonist Refuses Award Funded By Israeli

Meet the Jordanian cartoonist who won third place in a contest, but refused the prize on account of Jooties (Jew cooties).

jafariJordanian cartoonist Naser Al Jafari, who won third place in an international award on political cartoons on Sunday said he rejected the prize because it is “funded by a pro-Israel cartoonist”.

Jafari, who works as a cartoonist at Al Ghad daily, won the $3,000 third prize in the 2012 United Nations/Ranan Lurie International Political Cartoon Award.

Jafari, who applied for the award in October last year, said he received some papers and a cheque by mail in early January informing him that he won third place.

“The cheque I received was signed by Lurie himself. Then I did some research about him and asked colleagues in the profession about him and discovered that he has connections with the Zionist entity [Israel],” Jafari told The Jordan Times.

“I refused to accept the award because it is funded by Lurie who is known for supporting the Zionist entity and has a history of dealing with the Zionist movement. I cannot accept an award from such a person,” the cartoonist said, adding that “Lurie has never condemned any of Israel’s practices against the Palestinians”.

“Although this is a UN award that is judged by international experts, when I realised it is funded by someone who is pro-Israel, I decided to refuse it,” Jafari added.

I guess he considers the peace treaty to be more of a joke than one of his cartoons.

Meanwhile, if only he knew the real “truth” about Lurie.

  1. “Zionist entity” ain’t no country I ever heard of. Say “Zionist entity” one more time, MFer! (channelling “Pulp Fiction” dialogue)

  2. Lets see who’s about apartheid and racism.
There are 8500 Jews living in the 22 Arab countries, while their are 1.5 million Palestinians in Israel.
Jews are barred from living in every Arab country, except a few thousand Jews who live in Morocco and Tunisia.
Jews wants to leave Tunisia with an Islamist government in power.
I should remind people, two of the Top Tunisian clerics 2 months ago called Jews Apes and for their mass killing.

  3. Does this story sound a bit fishy to anyone else? The prize is in Lurie’s name. Lurie is Israeli. There’s no way he didn’t know this. It’s not like the guy is hiding it – again: the prize carries his name. So why did this duieb apply for the prize? Either it’s a publicity stunt or someone put him upto it.

maybe he had a grandparent or someone else killed in Palestine in the past. Who can know?
    Sorry for bad english.

    1. Your English is just fine. As an American I’m well aware that Pow Wow the Indian boy loved all the animals and the woods, but what are you particularly fond of Porus? Israel I hope.

    2. By your logic, the 100s of innocent people killed in Mumbai and specifically the pour souls in Chabad House who were specifically targetted and killed was justified because of a hate on Jews and/or Westerners? Who can know? Idiotic statement!

I think we are not talking about the same Porus. “My” Porus was an ancient Indian king. I like him because he was the only that almost defeated Alexander Magnus using war elephants. Saying the truth, he lost against the Macedon king, but it was a “victory of Pyrrus” for Alexander, because he lost a lot of soldiers, in fact a bit later he was forced to come back Mesopotamia.

  6. Do the arabs have some reasons to hate israel or they are crazy? I don’t justify the terrorism of course, but the creation of israel in an arab land was a forced thing . I think you are american. Would you like to give 4 or 5 states to rhe indians? No? Just think indians have more and more rights on their land than the european and american jews in palestine.

    1. The Arabs are crazy. All the strife that has taken place over the past hundred years could have been avoided had they accepted Jewish immigration and sought to work together toward the common good. But they refused to compromise. Much of the Jewish settlement in pre-state Israel was on land that was either unclaimed or sold by Arabs. As for American Indians, many reside on semi-autonomous reservations specifically assigned to their tribe, although they are free to live anywhere in the U.S. as equal citizens. Their historic treatment by “palefaces” is a big blot on the American record.

For me there are not differences between indians and palestinian. Thinking like pro-israels, we italians would have the right to take france, spain, uk, germany, north africa….. israel too because they belonged to romans 2000 years ago. Obviously it would be ridicolous, but it was not ridicolous that thousands of european, american and russian people that never saw palestine in their life, went in an arab land to make a jewish state because 2000 years ago there was a jewish kingdom there and because it is wrote on a stupid book. I said that it was not ridicolous cause it was tragic. Tragic and criminal. Almost like the genocide of indians. I understand why usa and israel are so allied!
