Update: In related news.
Gaza fishermen on Wednesday morning snared a three-meter shark, prompting locals to crowd the shore taking pictures.
The shark was brought onto land and sent to the Khan Younis fish market to be sold for 20 shekels ($5.41) a kilo.
The head of the Palestinian fishing union Mahfouth al-Kabariti told Ma’an that fishermen usually catch sharks around two meters in length, but this one surprised them.
Al-Kabariti said sharks in general are not dangerous to humans and they don’t tend to view them as food. Occasionally they attack people’s hands and legs if they think they are fish.
“Thank God no one from Gaza was attacked by a shark,” said Mahfouth.
In late February dozens of stingrays washed up on the Gaza shore.
