It’s all in the crop as they say. Guess which version of this photo is more widely disseminated on the seedier anti-Israel and BDS web sites?
Source: Reddit and imgur
Update: With a bit of digging. it turns out the maliciously cropped version is not widely used. There are a few auto-generated news sites that crop it but even the hate Israel crowd hasn’t been doing this.
So the lesson to learn this time: check. Those of us supporting Israel don’t need to resort to these kinds of manipulations to make our case.
I have to tell you, I saw this on Facebook and got annoyed. Because I think the second version is the one more widely disseminated. The only time I have seen version one, is on pro-Israel sites trying to make the point about cropping. Correct me if I am wrong.
As you know, they don’t get more pro Israel than me. But a pet gripe of mine is when people on our side spread things that can easily be refuted. It harms our case.
I don’t blame you, Brian, for posting this, but we need to be careful.
You want to add your comments above the fold?
Mainstream this probably hasn’t had much use but the hate sites do use the maliciously cropped version.
Perhaps link to some of the hate sites (“nofollow” of course) to which you are referring. But I am not sure the first version is “more widely disseminated”
dont you fret, the ap will run the cropped version soon and for years to come
That’s more like something that Reuters would do, as they’ve been caught doing multiple times before.
