It’s obvious that the audience was comprised of Americans. Not a single Egyptian knows what a yarmulke is — and even if they did, they wouldn’t laugh about a Jewish “joke” like that. Even in Israel these “Jewish Jokes” and Ashkenazi terms aren’t that popular or known. One word: Zohan.
Also, No one cheered or celebrated when he talked about 9/11… (a country where, according to polls, only 17% have a negative view of Bin Laden) http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/pdf/feb09/STARTII_Feb09_rpt.pdf
And you gotta love these guys’ obsession with Fox News. The funniest thing is that they decided to focus on its mideast/Islamic coverage, which is quite dovish and restrained. Memri and even left wing Israeli news outlets prove it.
I wonder why the word “Israel” was never mentioned. I guess it would be hard to pretend that they are still nice while under verbal and physical attacks…
The video should be called Jon in Wonderland. I’m just not sure what character Bassam is.
fox’s coverage on the mideast in dovish and restrained? in what universe? not sure what memri vids you are referring to…memri does the arab world, not fox news and what left wing media outlet?
stewart has not been even handed when he has discussed israel/arabs in the past…bringing on bdsholes and allowing them to spew their crap…which is why many arabs like him…he makes a good dhimmi
You can find a tiny American audience like that anywhere in the world. I’m guessing most of them probably work in the American embassy. When I lived in South America they used to bring the consulate’s employees whenever a TV show had an American guest.
By personal experience, I can tell that it’s incredibly hard to find people in Egypt who can actually understand a conversation in English like the one in this video. And, again, the yarmulke “joke” is very telling. Even eretz nehederet’s audience would have some problems to get it.
I do think Fox News is extremely restrained. You can find much more aggressive (and truthful) material in Israel’s channel 2, yediot ahronot, maariv (all center/left sources)…
Stewart has never been even-handed and I never expected it from him, but lately he’s been going too far.
I never considered Fox News’s coverage to be particularly sympathetic towards Israel. Certainly Shepard Smith is not pro Israel and Fox recently hired anti-Semite Pat Buchanan.
Also “Cairo is a beautiful city” – are you nuts? It’s a filthy city!
I’m sure that many of those hospitable Arabs he mentioned (several times) were aware of Stewart’s well-deserved reputation as a “good Jew” who openly sneers at Judaism and supports those people and groups that are openly anti-Israel. To the best of my knowledge, Stewart’s tour of several Middle East countries does not include Israel, which does not surprise me at all. It’s just as well, since I am certain that if Stewart were to visit Israel, it would not be with the intention of showing Israelis and Israel in a favorable light.
The MB in Egypt is mad at Stewart for what they perceive as ‘insulting the Koran’. I half-hope they arrest him if only to see the stupid look on his Israel hating face. no doubt his own flunkies can obliquely blame that on the Jews as well.

Stewart has been very disappointing on Israel for a long time; I now cringe when he addresses the Middle East.

He would give Amira Hass an outlet.

“But–but–I made fun of the Jews! why don’t you love me?”
