Congratulations to Israeli actress Gal Gadot, for being cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Superman-Batman flick.
And she might just need to be somewhat of a wonder woman to put up with the criticism being leveled at her.
Amazingly enough, at least at the time of this post, the criticism is not coming from the antismitic and anti-Israel crowd, but rather the comic book purists.
Gal Gadot is perfect for WW once she bulks up and eats a sandwich

For one Gal Gadot has the body of a child not a warrior — Yuki Cross (@LittleKenobi) December 4, 2013
Not meant to be body shaming but #wonderwoman is an Amazon not a model. Am I alone in wanting an more athletic hero? http://t.co/PdJzd4liFm — Meghan Sekone-Fraser (@mhgaab) December 4, 2013
I cannot believe that Gal Gadot is playing #wonderwoman in Batman vs Superman. Completely the wrong actress to play an amazonian #rage

As well as the odd pedant.
Gadot, a former model and Miss Israel, tweeted: “Wonder Women! So exciting!!! Can’t express how happy I am :))))”
Her first job; To know the actual name of the character she’s playing..
(The offending tweet seems to have since been taken down).
Tough crowd!
She sure has a pretty face.
I’ve seen this reaction to all kinds of people cast in comic book roles. anyway congrats to her!
In all fairness, she really isn’t “Wonder Woman” material. She is too skinny, frail and childlike, although beautiful. But then again, it’s not the worst choice for a role. Just look at Ben Affleck, George Clooney, Halle Berry…
I’m torn by this news. On the one hand, I really want to congratulate her on landing a role playing a comic book icon. One the other hand, she’s going to be in a Zack Snyder film about Superman. I’m not sure if I can be paid enough money to watch another Zack Snyder movie.
However, I find the timing of the announcement ironic; the studio announces that a Jewish actress will portray Wonder Woman, an Amazon who worships the Greek gods, on Chanukah. Not sure if that’s a triumph over Hellenism or not…
