So I thought to myself “maybe I’ll take my kid somewhere to see some snow, somewhere other than Jerusalem, somewhere where no one else has thought of going….. I know, I’ll take him to Ariel!!”.
Great idea, right? Only I don’t know if its actually snowing there. So I went to AccuWeather.com, and plugged in “Ariel, Israel“. What do you know! They list Ariel as being in……. drum roll please…… Palestine!!!
Now everyone who knows me knows that I’m for a two state solution. But please, for the love of Dylan, people….. THERE IS NO SUCH COUNTRY AS PALESTINE!!!!!! Not yet anyway!
If you’re gonna call yourself “ACCUweather”, please TRY to be accurate.
Jono, I’ll one-up you. Ariel is at least beyond the green line. Modi’in also shows up as Palestine according to accuweather. They also say they “received” my complaint.

I emailed them to ask them to correct this. let’s see if I get a canned response like Deebo did.
Jono, you should post their information. This is outrageous and warrants an “action alert”
Ariel is not exactly Palestine (indeed, there is no such country) but it isn’t exactly Israel either. The disposition of Ariel would be part of any final status agreement should one ever come about as a result of a negotiated settlement between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Don’t have an easy solution for AccuWeather in how to identify the town of Ariel, but I’m reasonably sure it was not a political statement on their part. After all, even the right-wing Likud-led governing coallition in Israel has not annexed Judea and Samaria and made them an integral part of Israel. Do you really think AccuWeather would do one better than the current Israeli government?
You can argue all you want, the fact is there is no country called Palestine. I don’t care what they put, just don’t put fictional countries.
