Donetsk You Piece Of S***

I don’t like to generalize but us Jews are good at one thing. Remembering, recording history and understanding its significance and generally we like to keep the good things happening while ensuring the bad stuff never happens again.

Well, hello there Donetsk.

This leaflet was distributed to the Jewish citizens of Donetsk, Ukraine and demands the Jews register themselves, their family and their property under penalty of deportation and confiscation of assets.  This is happening TODAY.  Not 100 years ago.

Let’s go through this article FROM 2014 and find the important historical references that were missed by our friends in Ukraine.

The leaflet demanded the city’s Jews supply a detailed list of all the property they own, or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportation and see their assets confiscated.

Please. Go into each of those hyperlinks.

OK, the Holocaust is an obvious reference. But let’s continue.

Dear Ukraine citizens of Jewish nationality,” the flyer began, “due to the fact that the leaders of the Jewish community of Ukraine supported Bendery Junta,” a reference to Stepan Bandera, the leader of the Ukrainian nationalist movement which fought for Ukrainian independence at the end of World War II, “and oppose the pro-Slavic People’s Republic of Donetsk, (the interim government) has decided that all citizens of Jewish descent, over 16 years of age and residing within the republic’s territory are required to report to the Commissioner for Nationalities in the Donetsk Regional Administration building and register.”

The leaflet detailed what type of documents the Jewish citizens would need to supply: “ID and passport are required to register your Jewish religion, religious documents of family members, as well as documents establishing the rights to all real estate property that belongs to you, including vehicles.”

If the message was not made clear enough, the leaflet further stipulated the consequences that would come to those who failed to abide by the new demands: “Evasion of registration will result in citizenship revoke and you will be forced outside the country with a confiscation of property.”

To add insult to injury, the leaflet demanded the Jews pay a registration fee of $50.

Again, those hyperlinks are history lessons.

Are they joking around?  You know, like these idiots?  Because I missed the punchline.

So, what do you want to do? Hang around idly while the concentration camps are rebuilt, or stop this crap right now?

We call “anti-Zionism” antisemitism in disguise, while antisemitism is proudly flaunting itself in all its glory today with no connection to Zionism or Israel – so don’t even.

You think this is game to you? How about I take your Jew-hating and SMASH IT!

  1. Maybe it’s worth to ask for a proper translation of this fake? What is ‘pro-Slavic’? “????????????” means Orthodox Christian in Russian.

This photo circulates for several days now in Runet. In the wake of anarchy and chaos in Ukraine some bunch of clowns proclaimed a “People’s Republic of Donetsk” and another bunch of clowns printed a leaflet on behalf of the former. It’s most probably a provocation. In any way, I wouldn’t pay any attention to this forgery. Any 5-year-old could print such a “leaflet” and upload it to the Internet. Would you react the same way?

Deebo, you are looking very silly. Reminds me of Kapo Dickie when he fell into a similar trap.

And don’t call the birthplace of Natan Shcharansky (and also of my great-grandmother) a piece of shit. It’s a beautiful city.

  2. The leaflet is so heavily historically loaded, that one has to start suspecting that it was disseminated by the other side (KGB methods, anyone) to discredit the supposed leaflet’s creators.
Or I may just be spreading conspiracy theories..

  3. The real question is – what, if anything, can be done about it?

Of course, one doesn’t need to go to the Holocaust for comparisons; this sort of thing has been going on for over a thousand years. Unfortunately, historical Christian anti-Semitism has been undergoing a whitewash in the past several years as a reaction to attacks by Muslims.

Speaking of Christian anti-Semites, the Attorney General of the United States just appeared at was was essentially a Klan rally, sponsored by anti-Semitics minister and pogrom artist Al Sharpton’s organization. You can see the slogan “No Justice, No Peace” behind him. Translated, that means “give us what we want or we will start killing Jews”. Al Sharpton has more racist killings to his credit than any Klansman or Nazi in the past 40 years.

Hank Aaron was right. They have traded it their hoods for suits.

    1. This is not Christian antisemitism per se. Antisemitism in Russia and Ukraine and elsewhere in former Soviet Union has had almost a century to morph into its own entity, as being Jewish has been a nationality and not a religion. It’s not specific to Christian ideology either – look at Turkey, where it’s now become de rigueur to label any opponents of Erdogan Zionists.

      1. If it looks like a duck……
I think all anti-Semitism is basically the same. Using conventional history, you can draw a straight line from an Egyptian counter-account of the Exodus (*), to Greco-Roman anti-Semitism, to Christian anti-Semitism, to Moslem and modern anti-Semitism. Josephus spoke about the Blood Libel, the yellow badge was used in medieval times, and the charge of fifth-columnism leveled by the Ukrainians is voiced by Pharaoh at the start of Exodus.
(*) Ironically, even if you don’t believe in the Exodus, the counter-stories were known to history.

    2. Way to take a whack at Al Sharpton in your comments on a post having nothing to do with him. I wish Dave gave out awards; I’d put you in for “Crowbar Commenter of the Year.”

      1. Al Sharpton is a Christian anti-Semitic minister in the tradition of pogrom artists going all the way back to “Saint” John the Goldenmouthed in the early Church. The fact that he is a charlatan makes him no less dangerous, and it truly scares me that the Attorney General of the United States attends his meeting.

          1. On the substance of your complaints concerning Reverend Sharpton, I agree with you completely. In our current political environment, there truly is no accounting for past outrageous behavior. Pull a stunt or two like the Tawana Brawley affair or Freddie’s Fashion Mart picket/boycott and eventually you get your own talk show on MSNBC.

What I find far more scary is radio talk show host Mark Levin, who doesn’t stop at merely disagreeing with President Obama’s policies and performance. He actually tries to convince his gullible audience that Obama hates America, that his actions are purposeful with the intent to inflict pain and suffering on the American people, and that he must be stopped at all costs (second amendment remedies, any one?).

  4. It’s disgusting and antisemitic, but almost certainly not real. Firstly, there are no “Jewish Community leaders” in a political sense. There is no separate enclave of Jews who are told to vote the same way. Secondly, it’s not the 19th century where leaflets are handed out or knocked to posts.
It is scary that a tiny population of, I would guess, less than 1/2 percent would be scapegoated to make some sort of sick point.
