And You Will Try To Justify This Too

They were schoolboys.

And you will spin your wheels and turn it back, turn it black somehow, some way. You will try to justify this too.

But their blood cries out from the ground and contradicts you and speaks of three lives spilled on the ground after 16 or 19 years of hopes and parenting and dreams and futures swallowed up by the evil that is the evil we live with day in and day out, threatening to cover us over in black every day.

Every day.

And you will try to justify this too.

Because you are evil. You are black-hearted. You are jealous.

You were bred to hate and you breed to hate. Some of you abet and some of you just go out there and seize some boys and break their heads and tender bones, spilling their blood endlessly, effortlessly, and calling it “holy” because you distort.

You uglify God.

You twist and everything turns ugly at your touch. And you infect.

Morally. Physically with your sickness.

You are sick at the core, in the beginning and the end of you, you are black and evil and damned for all eternity, but you pretend to believe the others when they tell you you are holy. Because this permits you free reign on your most evil, most black inclinations.

You are like a hydra. Cut off one head, another grows. There is no end to you.

Hydra001

God. The God of the Jews. He regrets your creation.

You are the one thing He regrets.

We will live in spite of you.

    I just heard the news.
    Nearly crying.
    I could be them.
I’m sixteen, I’m Jewish, I walk home from school.
Would anyone care if I was murdered?
Or would they call me “settler”?
As an agnostic Jew, I’m leaning on the side of “there is no god” now.

    1. If you do that, they win. Listen, monochromemonitor: the Jews have outlived EVERY LAST ONE of its enemies. Against unbeatable odds. We will outlive these people, too. We will remain a small and lively nation. Our belief in God is our standard.

You can throw in your lot with the believers and strengthen us from within, or you can stand on the outside of the circle, unseeing and unbelieving, having given up.

There is a bigger picture than the one we can see.

    3. Monochromemonitor, I too am filled with grief and anger that these things keep being inflicted upon us, and I too wail and ask G-d why he won’t heal this world yet.
But, we must always remember that as much as the loss of even one holy soul pains us, and it should, the Jewish people have been through far worse multiple times in our history. After the Romans destroyed the previous Jewish State, wrecked the Temple, and slaughtered millions of Jews, the Sages said (I paraphrase) “It is true that in terrible times we cannot openly see G-d’s might in our welfare, but his might is still visible. Like a small lamb among 70 hungry wolves, our very survival against all odds shows the Mighty Hand of G-d at work.”

The power of this statement over the many bitter centuries has only grown. We have outlived many mighty empires that sought to destroy us, and watched them fall into the dust.
For all of the pain we suffer from our enemies, the mere fact that we have returned to build a new Jewish State in our homeland, with an army that can try to defend us (and is blessed to succeed in doing so 98% of the time) is a huge sign of Divine Benevolence.
We just need to accept that the right time for full healing has not yet come.
