Tis But A Scratch

It has been brought to my attention that not quite everybody in the whole world has seen this clip from Monty Python’s The Holy Grail.

See if you can work out why I’m posting it.

Though I have to say, the sheer villainy of the abandonment by Obama’s America and the cowardly British (no doubt fearful of their belligerent Muslim minority) has left me somewhat unable to joke. Hamas may have been left bloodied and bleeding but they seem to be triumphant in their real goal of destroying the world’s trust in Israel.

And when someone like David Horovitz in the Times of Israel concludes his oped with stuff like the following, perhaps it’s better just to sit on YouTube and watch old Monty Python sketches.

From Hamas’s point of view, it must be a source of immense delight to witness the strains, and practical fallout, in the relationship between Washington and Jerusalem. It wins an election in which the US insisted it be allowed to take part, even though it has never renounced terrorism. It murders its way to control of Gaza. It diverts Gaza’s resources to turn the Strip into one great big terrorist bunker. It hits Israel, over and over and over again. It intimidates international journalists to not report on and film its attack methods. And the international community condemns Israel, the UN sets up inquiries into Israeli war crimes, and Israel’s allies limit its arms supplies.

All it needs to do, Hamas can only conclude, is keep firing at Israel’s towns and villages, forcing Israel to respond, confident that this will bring still more criticism down on Israel as well as growing restrictions on Israel’s ability to defend itself. Wow, the Hamas leaders must be thinking, the free world is just so dumb.

  1. I said a couple of weeks ago, when Hamas was insisting that Israel had to comply with all its demands in order to graciously agree not to have another ass-kicking, that it reminded me of nothing so much as The Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

    It’s simply surreal.

Brian, don’t let battle fatigue get to you. Most Americans still support Israel and Hillary Clinton, well aware of that, is in the process of distancing herself from Obama, who turned around and signed the appropriation of $225 million for Iron Dome. As for the UN human rights travesty, their investigators should be deemed enemy combatants engaged in warlike aggression against Israel and treated accordingly.

Let me add further that after destruction of the tunnels, Bibi could have declared mission accomplished and accepted any ceasefire the diplomats proffered as permanent (until the next round). Instead of taking this easy way out, he understood the underlying cause of the conflict and demanded that Hamas be disarmed. Even Kerry gave this demand lip service. However, by failing to demand that Hamas unconditionally surrender, he has helped set up the current stalemate. As General MacArthur said, “There is no substitute for victory.”

  3. I read that Hamas leader Dief has actually lost both his arms and legs in previous battles w/Israel so perhaps even the imagery here is closer than you would imagine.

  4. I want to laugh – I want to cry! If Hamas wasn’t essentially so bloody ghoulish it would be hilarious! Seems to me that Hamas is indeed under occupation – slaves to a morbid, mindset that keeps them forever chained in a horror of their own creation. Somewhere along the line there will have to be a – reset.
