Hamas Firework Show For Steve Wozniak

It wasn’t long after I welcomed Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak, to Israel, that Hamas saw fit to send over a barrage. Here’s Woz’s tweet and my reply:

And, because the alarms were NOT sounding in my neighbourhood (though they were faintly audible in the distance) I went out to see if I could film Iron Dome.

Welcome, Steve, thanks for coming to visit. It’s a little unnerving to be under attack, but computers and astonishing technology just like the sort you pioneered are keeping millions of civilians safe (mostly).

A new IDF intelligence report declassified last week has made it
clear that Hamas terrorists have sunk to a new low — child sacrifice —
in its thirst for Jewish blood.

Human shields, and particularly those who are most vulnerable (read:
children) make the best headlines when they are photographed by
horrified international reporters after they are bloodied and dead
following a firefight or an IDF air strike.

How can that best be staged?

Of the more than 3,600 rockets and missiles fired from Gaza at
Israeli civilians since the start of Operation Protective Edge on July
8, 1,600 were fired from civilian areas, according to the report.

Video footage of attacks fired from civilian areas were included.

  2. Let’s take a moment to remember what Richard Silverstein had to say not so long ago about Iron Dome.

Silverstein claimed that Iron Dome has only a 5% success rate (thank G-d that Silverstein is wrong as usual, or the devastation and loss of life from 3500+ Gaza rocket attacks against Israel these past few weeks would have been MASSIVE).

    In Dickie’s words:

“Before Israel and the U.S. rush into a billion-dollar spending spree for this whiz-bang system, it’s best that sober-minded people examine its real capabilities. The price of Iron Dome is mind-boggling. Missile experts have estimated that during an intense military attack Israel might spend $380-million a DAY on defensive operations. Is it worth a sum in the billions to shoot down 5% of the enemy rockets that it targets?

The hype and fraudulent claims around Iron Dome are characteristic of the entire Israeli national security system. It makes extravagant claims either about the danger posed by an enemy (like Iran) or about the success of a weapons system. Many of which turn out to be based on little more than wishful thinking. Israel bases much of its strategic military thinking on what it wants to happen, rather than what will or may happen. Which is how it gets into trouble when it actually has to
fight a war or military campaign.”

Read and laugh at Silverstein’s appalling fail.

    1. Hile we are laughing at Silverstein fails, let’s not forget his frequent strident insistence that Hamas was inot connected to the kidnapping/ murder of three Israeli youths.

Says Silverstein: “the claim that the kidnappers were associated with Hamas is tenuous at best.”

Unfortunately for Silverstein, Hamas itself proves that he is dead wrong: “A senior Hamas leader has said the group carried out the kidnapping and killing of three Israeli teens in the West Bank in June” (Associated Press)

Silverstein doesn’t have enough credibility to be elected dogcatcher.

  3. Dickie seems to be getting his info from some supposed “missile expert” who’s been claiming the ID isn’t all that effective (I think the guy’s name is Piepol). There have been some articles making the rounds here in the states that cite his work.

  4. Poor dogs (in the end of the video) scared because of the explosions. Let me ask you something: do you know what happens to the rocket debris once it’s intercepted? Does it just fall to the ground? Is it dangerous?

    1. Yes, the debris falls to the ground and can in itself cause some damage, though of course not as much as the rocket itself. This is why Israeli citizens are instructed by the IDF Home Front command to remain in safe rooms (or if outdoors lying flat on the ground) for 10 minutes after the explosions.
