BBC’s Jon Donnison Takes Time Out From Australia To Slam Israel

Guess who’s back, back again, Donny’s back…. tell a friend. Our old friend Jon Donnison, despite not actually having anything to do with Gaza for the BBC right now, takes time out from his busy schedule of making stuff up to tweet the following video about Gaza. In fact even Donnison’s Twitter bio lists him as being “BBC Sydney Correspondent covering Australia & region” so, just as we know from Matti Friedman, he can’t leave the Israel/Gaza story alone.

Gaza Damage Heatmap VerticalThis is an interesting video. It’s made by the same people who used a drone to show us pleasant views of a football stadium and the sea front in Gaza a few months back.

The video is quite short (under a minute) and while it claims to show huge damage, what it actually shows is highly selective damage.

Donnison, and the anti-Israel sites that have been running this video, are saying this shows “incredible destruction” of Gaza. Well it’s from Al-Shejaiya (Shuja’iya) which is one of the five areas in which Hamas was heavily embedded. It’s immediately to the east of the almost completely undamaged main parts of Gaza City as can be seen in Judge Dan’s damage severity map.

Even within that area it is likely the damage shown in the video is one of the most highly damaged part of Shuja’iya which the IDF drew attention to with the red clusters on the following map (again Judge Dan’s work matching this to the UN damage maps).

Shujaiya Damage

This neighbourhood was tunnel central and a very large number of these houses were booby trapped and used as bunkers by Hamas from which to attack IDF troops. Many buildings were, of course, damaged, but many, many more were not.

And this video shows undamaged buildings all around the ones that were carefully selected as targets.

Another point to note: look at the face of this largely undamaged building abutting an area of rubble. I’ve highlighted the face of the building.

Shujiya building face low damage from shrapnel

It’s remarkably free of damage from shrapnel. Another sign the IDF were very careful about the munitions they used.

Finally, if you really want to see wanton damage on a truly epic scale, all you have to do is stick “syria buildings” into google images and this is what you’ll see. But then again, we know Jon Donnison has seen pictures of Syria, he famously tweeted out a dead child from Syria claiming it was from Gaza!

People like Jon Donnison take time out from their busy schedules to single out only Jewish Israel for their disapproval when Jews defend themselves from terrorists.

What a tool.

  1. I thought we had stopped sending our undesirables, criminals and mentally deficient, from the UK to our Australian colony.
I suppose old habits die hard.
