Joan Rivers 1933-2014

joan-rivers

After being rushed to hospital last week after her heart suddenly stopped beating during vocal chord surgery, Joan Rivers has been taken off life support. She was 81.

Joan had a long and distinguished comedic career spanning over 50 years, but for a youngster like me two roles stand out.

One was playing Dot Matrix in Mel Brooks’ Spaceballs.

The other – and by far most important role – was being Joan Rivers, passionate defender of Israel.

I get the feeling G-d decided to take Joan in after this, her finest moment.

May He comfort Joan’s family at this time.

Update: I just saw this now for the first time – language warning (hat tip: Arsen)

    Amen. Sad news indeed.

So sad. She will be missed. I particularly remember her for the dog shows at the Melbourne Midsumma Festival. Irreverent, offensive, hilarious, totally unapologetically Joan.

Baruch Dayan Ha’emet. Wild a wacky lady. Still remember her from the Tonight Show and Hollywood Squares.

She was one-of-a-kind. Joan Rivers will be missed.

Saw her at Carlos & Charlies in LA many years ago. She never lost her edge. Sad news.

Joan, more than a thousand good things can be said about you: to start with you really were funny-you’re one of the personality templates that up and coming comedians can judge themselves by…………….

    Baruch Dayan Emet.

After yesterday’s report that she was being “kept comfortable” I can’t say it’s a surprise, but sad nonetheless. My condolences to the family.
