TOI Sez Antisemitism Ha Ha, Genocide Bad

What makes anti-Semitism okay, but genocide not—at least when we’re talking about genocide in relation to the people of Gaza? I don’t know, but it appears that the Times of Israel, does. Which is really good to know.

I feel much better. Especially since it was no less than a Times of Israel breaking editor, Stuart Winer, who blogged the anti-Semitic piece in question. And it’s just filled with juicy Jew tropes.

Knowing that an actual EDITOR at TOI posted this piece makes all the difference, as far as I’m concerned. I mean, I might have found the piece offensive, but since an EDITOR at TOI posted it, I realize that it’s actually FUNNY.

Thank goodness.

We all need a laugh, right? So I was relieved to learn that it’s just fine and dandy that I laugh at the idea of a Jewish cleric cursing loudly and in public while sanctifying the Sabbath.

The rabbi made the blessing and drank from the goblet before placing it on a table. He then reached for a piece of pickled herring but his sleeve knocked over the cup, that was still half full, spilling red wine over the white tablecloth.

What happened next sent shock waves through the community that were still being felt days later.

“Oh F-ck!” Goteinstaum said according to several people who were within earshot.

I mean, TOI, as a major purveyor of Israeli news wouldn’t have published the piece if it were at all problematic, right? So clearly: there is nothing wrong, for instance, with giggling at a sexual innuendo uttered by a mythical HAREDI female. That wouldn’t offend ANYONE at all.

“The joke is that Schmerling is really keen to blow the rabbi’s horn,” she said with a blush.

Intimating that a biblical figure used offensive language–come on, HILARIOUS. Having the pretend elderly wife of the pretend Haredi rabbi toss off a vulgarity that means “testicles?”  I mean EL OH ELZ. Big time.

Nazi propaganda, antisemitic art, Wandering Jew
All that’s missing is the pickled herring.

Well it’s nice to know that’s all settled.

And it’s also really great to know that while all this is a-okay, a blog about destroying the enemy of the Jews (you know, Jews like the ones with funny names who eat pickled herring and curse) is definitely NOT OKAY. It’s DAMNABLE and IGNORANT.

And if you write anything that even hints at this notion, the Times of Israel WILL UNPUBLISH your blog piece. Even though you can still see the cached version. http://mondoweiss.net/2014/08/yochanan-genocide-permissible

And even though most of the people who work at the Times of Israel are Jewish and would have certainly had a nodding acquaintance with the idea that Jews are supposed to completely WIPE OUT Amalek. (Hint: grogger)

Which is all that guy meant in the first place.

But what an idiot. He used the G word. Which is so much worse than the F word. Or anti-Semitic tropes, or depicting Haredim in the most offensive and sneering manner possible.

when genocide is permissible, Times of Israel, removes blog post

It’s really awesome to have all this straightened out. Good people over there at the Times of Israel. I love that they are so fair and balanced.

Thank God at least one Israeli media outlet can be trusted to know the difference between right and wrong.

I mean, people are such SHEEPLE when it comes to the media. They just accept and parrot whatever the media says. You need to have at least one “Jewish” news site with integrity, you know? To light the way?
