Must Watch: Gazan Visits The Western Wall

Abu Bakr Bashir, the Wall Street Journal’s producer in the Gaza Strip, had never been to Jerusalem. WSJ’s Nicholas Casey documented his first visit.

Notice how he is able to even go and pray at the Kotel (Western Wall), one of the holiest sites in Judaism. Without a skullcap. Without incident.

This is what happens when Jews go to the Temple Mount – the holiest site in Judaism.

To put it bluntly, if you believe Israel should not be in charge of the holy sites, you need your head examined.

  1. Nice Post! A bit of fairly honest reporting from a Gazan journalist. A step forward indeed.
Day and night when compared to the clip of shrieking, rabid, hate-filled palestinians ‘protesting’ Jewish presence on the Temple Mount. Infected Zombies.
Darkness is absence of Light. Hatred is absence of Love.

  2. The last time Muslims held the Kotel, they tethered goats there and used it as a latrine. If they ever get their hands on it again, they WILL tear it down, count on it.

  3. SCREW SOCIALISM

The Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron is shared between Muslims and Jews.

Same should apply to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Jews established Jerusalem. Muslims stole Jerusalem from the Jewish people.

Muslims can keep their apartheid Mecca.

  4. It seems the security at Kotel is very lax. Not only does he walk up to the wall but he has a bright blue plastic bag and apparently no one has checked to see what it is or required him to deposit the parcel at a checkpoint before entering the area.

I would expect much more scrutiny of those who enter the plaza– and we need to stop the intimidation of Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount. Why shouldn’t everyone screaming and yelling be arrested for disturbing the peace. This kind of behavior should have been stopped long ago!

    1. There is security before you get onto the Plaza and so he will have been screened along with his bag before getting close to the Kotel…you need to go and experience it for yourself. Security is good but at the wall there is no words to describe

      1. Thank you— I wish to go and have that once in a lifetime experience but it is a very long journey for me. Unfortunately, I was not able to go when I was younger, but I did send my son.

    2. They didn’t show it in he clip, but there is a security checkpoint on the way into the Kotel plaza, where bags are inspected.

I was there about a month ago, and they are careful.

  5. Well this is a poor comparison to make. The Palestinian guy was alone and not even recognisable as anything other than perhaps not a religious Jew. Having said that Abu seems like a good man.

  6. Maybe we need someone to be put in charge of the holy sites who will protect the rights of Jews to worship. Because Israel sure isn’t.

(On the other hand, technically Jordan is in charge there, not Israel, so maybe that is the problem. I am not aware of the details of the treaty, but I know from the book of Joshua that treaties need to be kept, possibly even if they contravene God’s word. It would be good to know more)

I am not a big fan of anyone going up on the Mount, but this is a matter of sovereignty and self-respect.
