My Arabic is a little dodgy, but I do not think they were saying “Thank you for granting us legitimacy so we can pursue peace!”

FYI, these were the Al Aqsa Martyr’s Brigades, affiliated with Abbas’ Fatah party.

  1. Couple of comments:

    1) The “Mango” shop allows me to confirm with near-certainty that it’s in Ramallah, not Gaza.

    2) Ramallah really doesn’t look that poor at all, shops and all seem rather high-end, don’t they. It doesn’t fit with the jihadi style, which one associates more with Afghanistan and so on. Looks odd.

    3) This is about 10 km away from downtown Jerusalem. Just an FYI for those that think that separation is possible without real peace.

  2. Ok – they are under occupation AND resistance fighters AND refugees. They are busy with symbols like flying their flag at the UN. But what does this flag represent? If their flag at UN represents their status as the state of Palestine, and specifically, this Palestine is the one that Abbas is claiming at the UN to be a representative of; then how can Palestenians from the West Bank be considered refugees? Palestine has been given legitimacy and recognition at the UN. They are IN Palestine. Where are they fleeing from? Even if one accepts that there is occupation, it doesn’t change the fact that those Palestenians in the West Bank are living under Palestenians rule, in the very territory which the Palestenians themselves claim to be Palestine. I’m not a lawyer, but It seems to me that the only way they could be considered to be refugees, is if they left this area. If only the UN liked the idea of saving millions of dollars (that are sunk into UNRWA) more than they hate Jews.

  3. Its time to think about his (funeral) eulogy. He is about 85 years old and overdue for returning his spoon. I wonder if the infamous New Israel Fund is already collecting money for a monument in Ramallah. The NIF was his most faithful supporter.
In fact he has left nothing but political havoc, absolutely no constructive achievements (*) for the Palestinian Arabs. Israel did more for the Palestinian Arabs. They have jobs, water, electricity and roads. I wonder how big his amassed fortune is.
(*) His only “achievement” was his doctorate: A thesis if there was a Holocaust.
