Ban Ki-moon In Gaza And What A Covered Map Tells Us

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is visiting the region, and as part of his trip, he today visited the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. As the Times of Israel noted:

A school in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday covered up a map of “historic Palestine” — which is today the modern State of Israel — ahead of a visit by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The map at an UNRWA institution in the Hamas-run enclave where Ban gave a press conference was seen in photos concealed by a white sheet.

Pierre Krähenbühl, the UN agency chief who was accompanying Ban on Tuesday, did not immediately comment.

Here is a before and after photo of the covered map.

What strikes me about it is what a lame attempt at hiding it this is. I mean, the covering actually draws attention to something being “hidden.” Ban could easily have seen it and asked what lay beneath. Had they really wanted to keep its existence hidden from Moon’s knowledge, they would have simply removed it from the wall for his visit and hung it back up afterwards (It goes without saying that I am sure they put way more effort into hiding their rockets).

I’m of the opinion the purpose was not to hide it from Moon, but rather just ensure no potentially embarrassing photos or images arose from his press conference where he could be seen standing near it. I don’t think it actually bothers Moon that such maps exists, let alone in UNRWA schools. His comments at the press conference reveal his view of the cause of Gaza terrorism.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon described on Tuesday Israel’s Gaza blockade as “collective punishment” which he said was fuelling the flames of violence: “This situation cannot continue. It fuels anger and despair and it increases the danger of an escalation of hostilities,” he said during his fourth and final visit to Gaza as UN Secretary-General.

Yet it is the map that shows the real root cause – their persistent view that there should be a judenrein palestinian state in the entire area. Why is it that after we unilaterally withdrew from Gaza in 2005, Hamas fired even more rockets into Israel than ever before? It is not rocket science – the Hamas covenant is explicit about ridding the land of the infidel Jews. After all, per article 28, Israel, Judaism and Jews challenge Islam and the Moslem people. “May the cowards never sleep.”

This all clearly does not bother Moon or register with him. In his distorted world view, Israel’s actions in self-defense are what cause the terrorism they are designed to act against. And the palestinians are fully aware of where his sympathies lie – so much so that they “pretend hide” the map of Palestine showing their true genocidal aims.

In fact, there’s also another photo from Moon’s visit today that seems to speak volumes about the palestinians’ comfort in knowing where Moon’s sympathies lie.

Note the two boxes of tissues set up in front of him.

Since there are collective celebrations in Gaza of the murder of Jews, collective punishment is warranted. Let Moon season his kimchee with that.

  2. For goodness sake – a man in his position cannot be allowed to just make asinine comments and not be taken to task. Gaza is NOT Israel. Israel withdrew from Gaza. Gaza would be part of Palestine, if they actually put building a state ahead of murdering Jews. Again, Israel. withdrew. from. Gaza. There are no Israelis in Gaza. Isn’t this essentially what they are asking Israel to do in Judea (West Bank)? So, how is it a punishment? And, it is a border, not blockade. The blockade is collective punishment? What does he propose as the alternative? No border? If only this could be done practically: evacuate the Jews, leave Ban Ki Moon and his crew on the Israel side and give him the “John Lennon Imagine” experience. Hell, since we’re imagining, relocate the whole UN there, just for a day. A few hours even. And don’t give them helmets or masks and block the bomb shelters. I mean seriously, stop speaking from your ass, what do you propose instead? Besides, just a reminder: Gaza has a border with Egypt. Someone please slap him.

  3. after that statement, is ban still being allowed into israel?

there is a state of war between hamas and israel. hamas are the legally elected representatives of gaza, therefore, there is no collective punishment

ban just incited and ok’d violence towards israel and israelis

if he tries to cross over to israel. he should be shot
