Shire Network News

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

It is very rare that I plug other sites or podcasts, so when I do, you should listen.

One of my favorite podcasts is Shire Network News. The main people behind the show - Brian of London and Tom Paine (not their real names) - have been longtime supporters of Israellycool, even in the days I had a rival podcast (which shall return one of these days). But the reason I listen is because it is highly entertaining and informative.

This week’s episode is up here. Amongst the issues covered are the recent British terror plots, the demise of Farfur, and the CNN Weather story first brought to light on this blog.

Check it out.

Future of the Israellycool Podcast

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006
My gradual podfading has taken its toll, with the podcast failing to make Lair’s Ten and Only Ten list for the first time in over a year. Can’t say I disagree with him either.

I am finding it extremely hard to find the time to do a podcast these days. Sure, it isn’t too hard to record oneself mouthing off about something or the other, but I have always put more effort than that into the show - whether it be research, incorporating sound effects and other audio, as well as editing. I believe you either do something well, or don’t do it at all.

My relative lack of time these days is coupled with a relative lack of motivation. I could theoretically find the time to do the show, but the lack of feedback in the form of comments and hotline calls have started to take their toll (the show pulls in great numbers, but they are just numbers to me if I am not receiving feedback).

So here’s the deal. I am going to run a poll to help me decide on the fate of the show for the immediate future. If you are a listener of the show, please find the time to participate.

Getting the Word Out

Sunday, September 24th, 2006

I recently downloaded iTunes 7, and so far have not experienced any of the well publicized problems associated with this latest version.

One of the neat new features is the rankings for each of the categories. The Israellycool podcast is listed in the Religion & Spirituality: Judaism category, and is currently languishing in 97th place (it was in 25th place on Friday).

I would very much like to expose the podcast to more listeners, and a higher ranking would probably not hurt achieve this end. So if you haven’t already subscribed, just click on the Add to iTunes icon under my koala podcast banner. And feel free to also post a review in iTunes (apparently the more reviews you have, the better your chances at being featured on the front podcast page).

I know. I am so demanding, and have not been good lately at getting a podcast out on a weekly basis. But perhaps, with a few more thousand listeners, I will take my obligations more seriously!
