Iran’s state TV broadcaster was taken off air in the UK today after Britain’s media regulator revoked its licence in a move likely to fan diplomatic tensions with the Islamic Republic.
Ofcom ruled that Press TV, whose presenters include former MP George Galloway and Tony Blair’s sister-in-law Lauren Booth, failed to declare that Tehran rather than London was its editorial base when it was granted the licence.

The watchdog said it was apparent that ‘editorial control of the channel rested with Press TV International (based in Tehran)’.

Press TV was also fined £100,000 after broadcasting an interview with a journalist while they were being held in an Iranian prison, which Ofcom said was ‘obtained under duress’.
Ofcom said Press TV had ‘indicated it is unwilling and unable to pay’ the fine.

The move is likely to stoke further anger in Iran after Britain shut the country’s embassy in London and expelled all its staff in November in retaliation at protesters who stormed the British embassy in the Iranian capital.

Venting his anger, Mr Galloway tweeted today: ‘Champions of liberty the British govt have now taken Press TV off Sky.’

Press TV itself is predictably seething..and blaming you-know-who! (hat tip: Gaia)

I wonder what Lauren Booth is going to do now. I hear she really needed her Press TV salary.

Anti-Israel “activist” who thought it would be a good idea to walk around Jerusalem wearing a Kaffiyeh (the symbol of palestinian terrorism) and a kippa (skullcap) with palestinian flag pin. Also thought it wise to refuse to show his ID to Israeli policemen when asked.

Paul Donnachie

19-year-old student St Andrews University student who thought it a good idea to put his hands down his trousers, pull off a pubic hair and rub it over the Israeli flag belonging to a Jewish student.

Kevin Jones

OWSer who tweeted antisemitic comments to me and others, only to claim his Twitter account was hacked after he was exposed

Richard Silverstein

The anti-Israel blogger who committed a crime in trying to undermine Israel, continues to have trouble being truthful when it comes to his posts, and is generally a nasty piece of work.

The sister-in-law of Tony Blair who gained infamy a few years ago by complaining of starvation in Gaza while being photographed in well-stocked stores and piling on the pounds, she’s since converted to Islam, faces criminal investigation, has praised terrorists, and has let her antisemitism really run wild.

Guardian columnist who decided that Israel agreeing to Hamas’ demand – over 1,000 palestinian terrorists for Gilad Shalit – was a manifestation of a Jewish idea of chosenness. Her joke of an apology was less an apology than the continuation of her attack on Jews.

Pro-Palestinian activist Lauren Booth has launched a vitriolic attack on the Palestine Solidarity Campaign for dissociating itself from antisemitic musician Gilad Atzmon, saying the central office should be working “to end Zionism”.

Her comments highlight the internal divisions in the PSC, between the national body and its more radical branches. Last week, PSC director Sarah Colborne said the organisation had “no links with Atzmon and does not work with him.”

In response, Ms Booth, a recent convert to Islam and the half-sister of former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s wife Cherie, wrote on her blog: “Britain is witnessing the rise of a new wave of pro-Palestinian activists. They need an organisation that is fit for purpose. One that does not pander to the emotional whims of the Jewish, Zionist lobby.”

She added: “The PSC is …attempting to create a pro-Palestinian organisation that does not hurt Zionist sensibilities. Campaigns of appeasement to the Israeli lobby can never, ever, co-exist as part of a determined campaign to end Israel’s bloody and illegal occupation of Palestine. Let us be clear. A Palestine Solidarity Campaign should be working to END Zionism. Not ease it a little. Not work alongside it.”

Ms Booth, a presenter with Iranian-funded Press TV, praised Mr Atzmon’s new book, The Wandering Who? because it “pulls no punches, when asking to what degree the racist ideology – Zionism, when mixed with the Jewish sense of ‘Chosenness’ – is to blame for the existence of today’s apartheid Israel.”

She criticised blogger Anthony Cooper, who monitors PSC groups for instances of Holocaust denial and antisemitism. Mr Cooper said: “It’s encouraging that the PSC appears to have decided to take the problem of antisemitism seriously and is taking steps to dissociate itself from those who deal in hatred of Jews. They have a lot more to do but the early signs are promising”.

CST director of communications Mark Gardner commented: “This article is ugly and ridiculous, but very usefully illustrates how Gilad Atzmon’s emergence is forcing the anti-Israel movement to acknowledge its antisemitic demons; and then oppose them, or explicitly refuse to care.”

Jewish anti-Zionist and PSC activist Tony Greenstein called Ms Booth’s attack “venomous” and said it was “based on a core racist commitment.” He wrote on his blog: “PSC needs to take decisive action to root out, once and for all, those who evince sympathy for racism – of whatever description. Gilad Atzmon is deeply antisemitic. He subscribes to every myth and libel that has ever been written about Jews, from the world Jewish conspiracy theory, to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion to the Holocaust itself. “

 This is entirely consistent with the comment left on this blog in her name.

Tony Blair’s sister-in-law, who has spoken about her shame and embarrassment of becoming insolvent, could face a criminal investigation into her failure to stand down as a company director.

Lauren Booth, who is a presenter with the controversial Iran-funded Press TV channel, declared herself bankrupt last December. Her creditors included Cherie Blair, her half-sister, who lent her £15,000 after she wrote to the wife of the former prime minister for help.

Despite having 10 months to inform Companies House of her bankruptcy, as she is required to do by law, she is still registered as a director of Lauren Booth Productions.

She has, automatically, triggered a £750 fine for failing to file her accounts within three months of the deadline in July. According to Companies House, they have still to be lodged.

The Official Receiver, who oversaw Booth’s bankruptcy, confirms that she was given no special exemption to continue as a director. Failing to stand down can lead to “criminal prosecution resulting in a fine, and or a prison sentence”.

Booth, who could not be reached for comment, wrote about her bankruptcy earlier this year. “The person going through bankruptcy feels alone, often struggling with the shame and embarrassment.”

I’m sure this is somehow the fault of the Jews. At least she was already morally bankrupt, so she has experience.

Either way, she’s gonna need a hell of a lot of spiritual morphine.

The funny thing is even though he says “Go back to Israel”, he will then claim we have no right to be there.

Besides the greeting (I guess “jerk off” is Arabic for “brothers”?), notice the profoundly antisemitic nature of her response. All those snide mentions of “Chosen Race“. Her emphatic “rest assured no signs of any Judaism entered our world at all,” as if Judaism is the plague. The mention of our supposed plans to “rule over the rest of humanity.” It seems besides the Quran, Booth has been reading Protocols of the Elders of Ziyon and Mein Kampf. I’m glad she left the comment, though, because she confirmed most emphatically that she - and others like her – are not merely anti-Israel.

For the record, I am confident it was Booth who left the comment. The IP address of the comment is 109.154.190.153, which emanates from England – Booth’s place of residence. And the email address left in the comment is lauren_booth62@hotmail.com, which most certainly is her email address.

Now, here’s more confirmation of Booth’s father’s claim – from none other than the Muslim Legal Fund of America, for whom Booth is slated to speak.

I wonder if the Muslim Legal Fund of America discovered this fact and decided to publish it on their own , or whether Booth has decided to “come clean” and even work in an anti-Jewish angle in her speech.

Exhibit B: Abdul Wahid, Chairman of the pan-Islamic oganization Hizb ut-Tahrir, speaking of his respect for the fighters “making Jihad” against the Israelis and calling for the libration of Al Quds (“You can’t take an army, which is a nation’s army, a terrorist nation’s army, and defeat it with sincere small fighters. It needs some of those states around to release their armies to burn that land and then that region will see peace like it had in the past. Because the only time that land has seen peace between Muslim, Christian and Jew living side by side was when sincere Islamic rulers ruled with justice.”)
