A Gaza doctor died on Wednesday night after suffering from an electric shock, a spokesman from the emergency services said.

Maher Dalloul, 36, was electrocuted while turning on an electric generator in his house in Gaza City.

Dalloul had worked as a surgeon at Ash-Shifa hospital in the Gaza Strip, emergency services spokesman Adham Abu Salmiya said.

A spokesman says Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad suffered a heart attack while visiting the United States for his son’s college graduation.

Spokesman Jamal Zakout says Fayyad is recovering and is expected to leave the Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas, in two days.

Zakout says Fayyad felt strong chest pain on Sunday and went to the hospital to be tested. He says Fayyad suffered a heart attack while in the hospital. Zakout says tests showed a blockage in a coronary artery. Doctors performed a catheterization to open the artery.

For whatever reason, the palestinian Ma’an News cannot bring themselves to say the words “heart attack.” On the home page, they use the euphemistic “cardiac event.”

 Then in the report itself, they use the words “heart trouble.”

Interestingly, they mention Fayyad’s smoking habit, and don’t try to place the blame on Israel.

At least for now. It is only a matter of time before the real culprit is identified.

Palestinian medical crews were summoned to a checkpoint in the northern West Bank Monday night and told that a Palestinian youth had been involved in a car accident there.

When crews arrived, however, they said there was no sign of a car accident, and 16-year-old Omar Omran Hussein from the nearby village of Azzun was suffering from severe bruising. He was being treated by an Israeli medical team.

Palestinian officials said Red Crescent medics were dismissed with no explanation as to how the teenager sustained his injuries, and said they believed he had been badly beaten.

A report in the Israeli press Tuesday morning said a teenager was detained throwing stones on the main road between Qalqiliya and Nablus.

Must have been beaten by soldiers. He was bruised, being treated by Zionists (in an obvious attempt to cover up the brutality), and who would possibly entertain the thought that a person throwing stones at passing cars could be involved in a car accident?!

The Palestine Telegraph goes one step further, stating as fact the teen’s beating at the hands of IDF soldiers, based on a supposed admission by an unnamed Israeli spokesperson.

A Palestinian youth was hospitalized yesterday after Israel soldiers severely attacked him in the northern West Bank city of Qalqilya.

Local sources confirmed that the youth identified as Omar Omran Hussein, 16, was evacuated to Israeli hospital to receive medication due to injures all over his body.

Israeli sources said that the Palestinian was injured in a traffic accident, while Palestinian ambulances arrived the area and found no indications for an accident.

According to witnesses, an Israeli ambulance evacuated the injured to an Israeli hospital.

Israeli spokesman said that the injured was beaten as after throwing stones at Israeli vehicles driving on the main road between Qalqilya and Nablus..

Needless to say, I have found no such admission anywhere in the Israeli news.

WAFA, the Palestine News and Info Agency, also reports the teen’s beating as fact. It seems the teen – who was apparently quiet about the attack in the first two reports and preferred to let medics deduce it and an anonymous Israeli spokesperson admit it – blabbed about it to his uncle before he was taken away. Either that, or his uncle happened to just be there at the time. Which is entirely possible, given uncle’s unparalleled wisdom, which also enabled him to see right through the Zionist mind trick that forced the teen to throw stones at cars in order to entrap him in to a beating.

As for being taken away for medical treatment, forget that! He was taken away for interrogation.

Israeli soldiers late Monday night attacked and arrested Omar Omran, a 15 year old Palestinian boy in Azzoun town, east of Qalqilya city in the north West Bank.

The soldiers set a trap for the boy, beat him brutally and took him away in an ambulance due to his injuries, according to Ahmad Omran, the boy’s uncle and mayor of Qalqilya.

Omran said the Israeli District Coordination Office (D.C.O) in Qalqilya told the boy’s parents that he is being held and interrogated, with no indication as to his health condition.

The boy’s parents said they hold the Israeli army fully responsible for their son’s life.

So there you have it, folks. Palestinian reporting at its finest. The sad thing is, people generally swallow it hook, line and sinker.

Medical officials in Hebron said an 11-year-old girl from the city was transferred to Hadassa Hospital in Israel on Sunday, after she was struck down by a settler car at the Beit Ainun junction.

The girl, identified as Amani Al-Mutawer, was said to have been walking to school when she was hit.

Her condition was described as moderate.

Which begs the question: How did these “medical officials” know it was a “settler” car? I assume they did not actually see the accident, so it could have been driven by a palestinian. And if they coincidentally witnessed it, how could they ascertain just by looking that the car was driven by a resident of Judea or Samaria? The driver could have even been an Israeli Arab. And if it was a visibly Jewish driver, how would they know the resident didn’t live in Israel proper? Unless that’s the point: all Jewish cities and towns in Israel are viewed as settlements.

What is also worth noting is that the palestinian girl was taken to Jerusalem’s Hadassa Hospital. Apartheid fail, anyone?

Subsequently, the PA arrested three terrorists belonging to Islamic Jihad, possibly in connection to the attack.

The question for the palestinian Ma’an News agency was how to report these arrests, while at the same time painting Israel as the aggressor.

Easy.

PA makes arrests after Palestinian killed at checkpoint

Security forces loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas arrested three Islamic Jihad affiliates shortly after Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian at a checkpoint in the occupied West Bank.

Sources in the movement said intelligence services arrested three affiliates, identified as Adeeb Samudi, Murad Nawahdah and Samer Jaber, and searched the homes of other members of the party.

It was not clear if the men had any connection to Salem Omar As-Samudi, 24, from Jenin, who, according to Israel’s army and witnesses, ran toward Israeli forces at a checkpoint before they shot him dead.

The implication is clear: such is Israel’s brutality towards the palestinians that even when the latter are on their way to assist us, we still insist on subjecting them to demeaning and cruel treatment. By extrapolation, one could conclude there is no method to the madness of checkpoints beyond simple cruelty.

However, what is clearly missing from these photos is the context. Yes, we seem to see a firetruck going through what looks like a checkpoint, but:

• We are not made aware of the fact that in the past, terrorists have made use of ambulances to smuggle weapons and terrorists, which is pertinent when considering whether Israel is justified in stopping a palestinian fire truck for what might be a routine search
• We don’t know how long  the fire truck was at the checkpoint. For all we know, the whole process may have lasted 2 minutes.
• We don’t know what exactly transpired at the checkpoint. For all we know, the Israeli soldiers assisted the palestinian firemen in loading equipment.

The lack of this contextual information renders the photos rather useless as “proof” of Israeli cruelty, but rather compelling evidence of Ma’an’s agenda.

Obama said their meeting at the White House ranged over a number of strategic issues, including Iran’s nuclear program, Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as “the importance of moving forward in a swift and bold way in securing a Palestinian homeland that can live side by side with a secure and prosperous Israeli state.”

11:00PM: More amateur hour shenanigans from the State of Israel:

Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor Binyamin Ben-Eliezer is Israel’s “secret mediator” with Turkey, Channel 2 news reported on Wednesday. Although Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was aware of the meeting, the Foreign Ministry was not notified.

In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry, Lieberman said he sees the incident as “very severe. This is a blow to all of the administrative norms. This is a blow to the trust between the foreign minister and the prime minister.”

Channel 2 reporter Amnon Aharonovitch described a conversation, in which he called Ben-Eliezer and asked him where he is. At first, Ben-Eliezer said “Israel,” but then changed his answer to “Zurich.” When asked how his meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu went, Ben-Eliezer first told Aharonovitch “it never happened,” and then asked “who told you?” Ben-Eliezer then reportedly cursed at the Channel 2 correspondent.

8:30PM: Great news.

The son of a Hamas strongman, who had provided Israel’s security establishment with valuable inside information for almost a decade, will not be deported from the United States, a California court ruled on Wednesday.

Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of a Hamas founder who says he spied for Israel, speaking in New York in March 2010.

The U.S. Department of Homeland of Security ruled more than a year ago that Mosab Hassan Yousef should be denied asylum because he has “engaged in terrorist activity” and is a “danger to the security of the United States.”

However, on Wednesday Homeland Security officials indicated they were prepared to grant Yousef asylum, thus retracting their original intention, after claiming to have received new information which shed new light on the case.

The pro-Israel think-tank EMET, who had aided Yusef in his attempts to be granted asylum, said in a statement following Wednesday’s ruling that they were “enormously grateful to all those who played a part in standing with Mosab during this time, and helping the Department of Homeland Security come to understand what a grave error deporting Mosab would have been.”

8:10PM: The poison monkey-midget is at it again.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad  signed Wednesday a new amendment to a law in the Islamic Republic that forbids the airing of advertisements for “Zionist companies.” The blacklist of prohibited companies is comprised mainly of international companies, mainly American, owned by Jews or that operate branches in Israel.

Among those on the list are Coca Cola, Nestle, Intel, and IBM.

The boycott is rooted in Iran’s “Palestinian support law,” which acts as a response to assertions that Israel prevented goods from entering the Gaza Strip during its raid on the flotilla.

The amendment obligates a number of government ministries to establish a committee to identify and locate products from “Zionist” companies being sold in Iran. In addition, this committee will be charged with finding the names of leading figures in the blacklisted companies so that they may be boycotted as well.

This move is another link in the chain of efforts made by Iran to isolate Israel in the world in accordance with a decision passed in Iranian parliament on the matter. Iran also plans on bringing forth a resolution to boycott Israel in the UN and in other international forums, including the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the Arab League.

The amendment also obligates the Iranian foreign ministry to present annual reports on the progress made in the Israeli boycott.

Beyond wanting to bring harm to Israel, the amendment may also be an indirect response to the new round of sanctions recently imposed on Iran by the West over its nuclear program. The move is intended mainly for internal purposes, in order to increase civilian support of the Palestinians.

I think it’s a great idea. Perhaps Ahmadinejad can also boycott the polio vaccine, radiation, chemotherapy, artificial kidney dialysis machines, defibrillators, pacemakers, and…nuclear energy.

4:22PM: As if our diplomats’ performance wasn’t bad enough already..

Israeli diplomats have started wearing jeans and sandals to work and causing a series of diplomatic faux pas in a protest against salary conditions, a Foreign Ministry official said yesterday.

The increasingly public dispute has compounded Israel’s diplomatic woes at a time when it is struggling to contain the backlash from a deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid fleet last month that frayed relations with Turkey.

“For several days now, Foreign Ministry employees have come to work in jeans and sandals, without wearing ties, to protest their treatment,” an official said.

“They are following orders from the employees’ committee, which has accused the Treasury of dragging its feet in six months of salary negotiations.”

1:38PM: How the palestinian Ma’an News reported this morning’s Qassam rocket attack on Israel:

A projectile launched from the Gaza Strip nearly hit a building in Southern Israel Wednesday, Israeli press reported.

The rocket landed near a packing-house in the Sdot Negev Regional Council early Wednesday morning, Israeli news site Ynet said, which was confirmed by the Israeli army.

No injuries were reported.

No Palestinian faction has claimed the launch of projectiles.

Notice the use of word “projectile” instead of “rocket” (except in one place, where I expect the editor got sloppy), as well as no mention of the damage to the packing house.

9:15AM: While “peace activists” are supporting Hamas and the palestinians of Gaza, they are still firing rockets into Israel.

This time, “only” a packing plant was destroyed. It is only a matter of time before more people lose their lives (G-d forbid).

6:24AM: A little over a day ago, masked gunmen in Gaza set fire to a UN-run summer camp.

Even though it was clearly motivated by religious fundamentalism, the UN still found a way to blame Israel.

The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees condemned the attack, which appeared to be the work of Muslim extremists who view the camps as a symbol of Western corruption because boys and girls mingle freely.

“This is another example of the growing levels of extremism in Gaza and further evidence, if that were needed, of the urgency to change the circumstances on the ground,” UNRWA Gaza director John Ging said.

Naa, not really.

In the weeks following the arrest, the family still held hope that the Shin Bet had made a mistake: “We want to believe that everything will turn out to be a mistake, that the Shin Bet is trying to create the impression that they arrested the man responsible for all those crimes just to get others to talk, but we don’t know anything,” Rivka’s sister, Dassi Krief, told Ynet.

Teitel’s wife, said the family, has faith that the situation will resolve itself. “She can’t afford to think that there can be truth to this,” said a relative. “Otherwise she’ll just fall apart. She has to stand by him even in this difficult time.”

Rivka was accompanied by several neighbors when she first attended her husband’s arraignments, but as the case began to unfold, she began attending the hearings on her own.

Now, as the case became public knowledge, the family seems angry and embittered. They feel as if they were all deceived, said Dassi. “It’s very hard. We were all so happy that she married such a good man, and he turned out to be a lunatic. How are we supposed to handle that?

“(…) I think it’s better that we know, but that is what hurt her the most – learning that she has been living a lie. Just last week she told me that she felt cheated and then I realized she knew. She understood.”

Moshe Avitan, Rivka’s brother-in-law, said the family feels exploited: “This man married her while hiding a can of worms. He knew what he was. He started a family without giving his children a second thought.

“This is very hard for us but be can’t ignore this… We’ve already decided to cut all ties with him and his family.”

Rivka, he added, “Is in a complete state of shock. He is a psychopath who was leading a double life… She wants to talk to him and she has plenty to say.

The same goes for his Jewish neighbors.

Meanwhile, the Shvut Rahel community, where Ya’acov resides with his own family, and where police found a cache of weapons near his home, issued a statement Sunday expressing its revulsion to the actions attributed to him.

The community expressed hope that the security establishment would uncover the truth, but also “prays that the suspicions against Ya’acov Teitel will be found to be untrue, and so long as he was not proven guilty we believe in his innocence.”

Not to mention other members of the so-called “settler” communities demonized by all and sundry.

“Acts of the kind allegedly committed by Yaakov Teitel are grave, prohibited and unacceptable. The security forces should be congratulated for discovering him,” Danny Dayan, chairman of the Yesha Council of settlements, said Sunday.

“Any person of conscience in Israel must rise up in indignation against such acts, as well as against any despicable attempt to use them to gain political capital by blaming an entire community that is not connected – and is in fact vehemently opposed – to such actions,” Dayan added.

Ne’emanei Torah Va’Avodah, a liberal religious-Zionist movement, said that it “condemns any kind of violence. There is no justification for these heinous acts in the Torah, which espouses kindness and peace. However, we ask that people avoid pointing fingers and casting blame on an entire community because of the acts of one person.”

Israel’s Mossad espionage agency used Trojan Horse programs to gather intelligence about a nuclear facility in Syria the Israel Defense Forces destroyed in 2007, the German magazine Der Spiegel reported Monday.

According to the magazine, Mossad agents in London planted the malware on the computer of a Syrian official who was staying in the British capital; he was at a hotel in the upscale neighborhood of Kensington at the time.

The program copied the details of Syria’s illicit nuclear program and sent them directly to the Mossad agents’ computers, the report said.

3:26PM: Here is former Egyptian Chief of Staff Sa’ad al-Din al-Shazli in an interview with an almost comatose Al Jazeera reporter, in which he says that there will definitely be more Arab-Israeli wars – not because of some supposed Israeli “occupation” of palestinian lands but “based on our belief in G-d, the Koran, and the Prophet Muhammad.”

This coming from a Muslim who looks rather secular.

1:48PM: Swedish blood libel “journalist” Donald Bostrom was booed during his panel at a media conference in Israel. But he seemed defiant and unrepentant about publishing his story.

The hoopla from Sweden spreads to Dimona. Swedish reporter Donald Bostrom, who published a report in the Aftonbladet newspaper accusing the Israel Defense Forces of stealing and trafficking in Palestinians’ organs, was received Monday with boos and shouts during a panel he partook in at a media conference held in Dimona.

The Swedish reporter said that he understands the anger and explained that his infamous article only claimed that the Palestinian families’ allegations need to be investigated. He also said that there was much misunderstanding surrounding the article. “The fact is that the families said what they said. That’s a normal article,” he said.

Interviewer Yair Lapid said, “It is a well-known phenomenon that some of the Palestinian propaganda is lies. It is the weapon of the weak.”

Lapid claimed that he was not at all certain that the Swedish reporter had any basis for the article.

Bostrom responded, “If you are as journalist, you always interview, ask questions, and get answers. Organ trafficking is a global problem.” He said that before he wrote the article, he invested a lot of time researching and spending time in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, where he said he interviewed many families off of list given to him. Bostrom said that he chose to publish the story of one of the families, whom he says he interviewed for quite some time and received pictures of their son’s corpse.

Lapid shot back, “To say this without a shred of evidence, that Israel possibly harvested organs from Palestinians who disappeared, in other words, whom we kidnapped, killed, and robbed their organs, is a degrading and monstrous idea.”

In response, Bostrom said that he understands why people are angry, saying that everyone lies while at war. He said that it is difficult for reporters to distinguish between what is correct and what is a lie. “If it were just one family, fine. But there were many families. Mothers have a right to know what happened to their sons,” claimed Bostrom

Bostrom said that everyone would benefit from an investigation into the issue, saying no one had anything to lose. “If it is possible to give an answer to a Palestinian mother that nothing happened to her son, this must be done,” Bostrom asserted.

Bostrom claimed that he never said that the IDF track down Palestinians with the express purpose of harvesting organs. “This is a terrible lie,” he said.

‘Crossing the line’

Lapid concluded, “You are an anti-Semite because you are prepared to believe that there is a possibility that the government and the authorities would take part in such a monstrous thing. The only thing I can say in your favor is that you don’t know you’re an anti-Semite.”

Bostrom said in response, “If we walk in the streets of Stockholm and ask passersby about Israel, the vast majority will respond that they support its right to exist in peace. However, we also have a tradition of criticism, and we will criticize Israel though we support your country.”

Some of the people sitting in the audience did not accept the Swede’s explanations. They called the Swedish reporter a “liar,” and waved banners with “Israel is stronger than anti-Semitism” written on them.

Nor did Bostrom receive a warm welcome when he arrived the night between Saturday and Sunday at Ben Gurion Airport. Dozens of protesters from the Beitar youth movement met him there with shouts.

Incidentally, the Goldstone Report is based on the same principle: publish something based on spurious palestinian claims and then place the onus to investigate them on Israel, who is already comdemned in the court of public opinion by the very publication of the lies to begin with.

11:18PM: She certainly didn’t waste any time.

Israel has released a 20th Palestinian woman prisoner as promised in exchange for a short videotape proving that captured soldier Gilad Shalit is alive.

On arriving home in the Gaza Strip, former prisoner Rawda Habib urged Palestinian factions to capture more soldiers in order to exert more pressure on Israel to release Palestinians from its prisons.

Then again, it’s what you would come to expect from a prospective suicide bomber.

8:24PM: Virginia Native American leader Chief Annie Richardson has told Israeli National Infrastructure Minister Uzi Landau that American Indians support the State of Israel and its G-d-given right to the Land of Israel.

“We believe that G-d has given you this land and we want you to fight for it,” Richardson told Landau. She presented him with a traditional Native American headdress and a bow and arrow, as “a token of the affection of the Native American nations for Israel.”

Richardson asserted that her organization, which represents dozens of Native American nations in North America, is fully behind Israel. The minister thanked the Native American chief and presented her with a collection of ancient Judean coins.

3:18PM: Israeli police have closed the Temple Mount for fear of Arab riots.

In response, the Arabs have rioted.  Who saw that coming?

The Jerusalem Police on Sunday morning closed the Temple Mount to visitors and Muslim worshippers for fear of riots. According to the police, the holy site was shut down following calls in east Jerusalem to “come protect the Mount.” Senior Fatah member Hatem Abdel Kader (appropriate name – ed) was detained for questioning.

Shortly after the Mount was closed, some 150 Arabs began hurling empty bottles at police forces in the Old City. The rioters were dispersed to the Wadi Joz neighborhood, where they continued to hurl stones. Two police officers were lightly injured by stones, and three rioters were arrested.

Meanwhile, how is this for respecting the religion of others?

Dozens of worshippers arrived at the al-Aqsa Mosque. The mosque’s manager, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, called on the Arab and Muslim nations and on international organizations on Sunday morning to “curb the extreme right-wing government which has failed to restrain the radical groups dreaming of placing an imaginary cornerstone for their imaginary temple.

That is coming from the mosque’s manager (as an aside, do you think he wears one of those these?) Imagine if the Muslims were still in control of the Old City as they were pre-1967.

Meanwhile, the palestinian Ma’an News agency is treating the riots like acne – they are just clashes that “erupted.”

12:00PM: Israel reportedly knows exactly where Gilad Shalit is being held, but is not willing to storm the place for fear of risking Gilad’s life.

In a separate story, Asharq al-Awsat quoted a senior Israeli defense official as saying that Israel knows exactly where Shalit is being held captive, and that the location is under constant Israeli surveillance.

According to the report, the official said that if Israel so desired it could take the risk and storm the place, but the fear that Shalit might get hurt is preventing Israel from launching such an operation.

Hamas is aware of the fact that Israel knows where Shalit is held, the paper reported, and has consequently surrounded the location with explosives. Hamas has also issued a directive to kill Shalit if an Israeli attack is sensed, the paper said.

The paper said these remarks were made during an informal discussion surrounding the prisoner exchange talks.
