Israeli intelligence officers forced a Palestinian man from Beit Ummar to drink wine at gunpoint on Tuesday evening, a local committee spokesman said.

An Israeli military patrol stopped Muhammad Khalil Abu Dayyah, 24, from the Safa neighborhood near Beit Ummar and forced him into a military tower at the entrance to Beit Ummar, said Muhammad Ayyad Awad, spokesman of Beit Ummar’s committee against Israel’s separation wall and settlements.

Abu Dayyah was being asked to give names of young men who participate in clashes against Israeli forces in the Hebron-district town, Awad said.

When Abu Dayyah refused to cooperate with the soldiers, they brought an intelligence officer who took out a list of names of young locals and asked him to identify them.

Abu Dayyah refused to give any information, and the intelligence officer pointed a rifle at the back of his head and ordered him to drink a bottle of wine.

Awad said that after Abu Dayyah drank the bottle, he passed out for an hour. He was awoken by Israeli soldiers who then threw him out of the military installation, he added.

Locals who witnessed Abu Dayyah being taken away by Israeli forces took him home after the incident, confirming that he appeared under the influence and smelling of alcohol.

The consumption of alcohol is prohibited in Islam.

Because the IDF always carries bottles of wine around with them, especially for interrogations. Water-boarding is so passe. Try wine-boarding.

Not surprisingly, the IDF has reportedly denied this occurred, saying Abu Dayyah approached the army post in an inebriated state.

I have not been able to find the full story online, but I was sent a link to this very disturbing excerpt.

I am not sure I would characterize the threat as “invisible” as much as an issue of people turning a blind eye to it.

Sure they are both Muslim, but she appears to be almost a head taller and a body heavier than her husband (it might be the baggy clothes or perhaps she was back in Gaza recently).

Of course, it is really her diet of Jew and Israel hatred that I find objectionable.

AARON MATÉ: Alice Walker, on the issue of Israel and Palestine, you traveled to Gaza. Now, that’s a place that most Americans, and especially most prominent American authors, never see. So, what led you to go to Gaza?

ALICE WALKER: Well, it’s a place in the world that is deeply suffering, and it’s a long, you know, suffering, as it’s over 60 years. It just smells, you know. I mean, the whole way that the state of Israel came into being, you know, what happened there? What happened with the Six-Day War? I mean, what—all of those things. They are taught that they are foreigners, and not only foreigners, but invaders, and that it’s their duty, as soon as they get big enough, to join the army and to fight and destroy them. I mean, this is—you know, this is something that most Americans don’t think about, and by now, they don’t have a lot of time, I guess, to think about other people’s problems. But because we support Israel so wholeheartedly, it’s very important that we pay attention, and also because Israel has nuclear weapons. And it’s a very unstable government and a very—you know, not very sane one, in my opinion

Besides the laughable statement at the end, if she thinks there are issues with the way Israel was established (through a vote at the UN),  the Six-Day War (Israel preemptively striking the Arab states about to try for another Final Solution) and Israeli textbooks (has she seen the palestinian ones lately?), her belief in reptilian overlords is par for the course.

Rich coming from someone who dedicates her life to slandering Israel.

For the record, not all of the commenters to this Facebook post are giving Booth the benefit of the doubt.

Now the man’s (still) wife is claiming Booth is a home-wrecker who stole him from her!

Faiza Ahmed has fled her home in Stockport, Greater Manchester, and taken her three children to her brother’s house in Texas to recover from the collapse of her 16-year marriage.

The 37-year-old childminder and bilingual teaching assistant claims that Ms Booth – the half-sister of Cherie Blair – has betrayed her newly acquired Muslim faith.

She accuses her of openly flirting with Sohale in front of her, spending the family celebrations of Ramadan and Eid with him, and marrying him in secret.

Speaking from the house in a gated community where she has taken refuge, Mrs Ahmed said:

‘Lauren destroyed my home. You can’t just put on a hijab and say you are a good Muslim woman – it’s about having boundaries with men, and love and respect for women.

‘She came into my house as my and my husband’s guest and did this under my nose. Her behaviour appals me, and other Muslim women – the very people she professes to support – must now judge her.’

Her words are a major rebuke to Ms Booth, 45, whose Facebook announcement of her marriage was revealed by The Mail on Sunday last week.

It followed a jokey advert placed on the social networking site last year saying she was hunting for a husband, and that ‘Mossad agents, secret drinkers, CIA stooges, men who don’t pray and men who don’t pay’ need not apply.

Last night Mrs Ahmed told how her marriage to Sohale, 49, faltered as he devoted increasing amounts of time to promoting Muslim charity and fundraising events involving Ms Booth.

She knew they were business associates and Sohale described Ms Booth as his ‘sister’ – a Muslim term of respect.

Mrs Ahmed first met Ms Booth, who is now recognised across the United States, Asia and the Middle East as a public speaker, when she came to stay at the Ahmed family home in March 2012.

Mrs Ahmed said: ‘I cooked for her and then I stayed at home with the children while my husband and Lauren went out together. They came home late and I saw how open she was with him

‘She was joking around doing silly accents, Scottish and Asian. It was funny, but in the presence of a supposedly strange man, it was wrong.

‘This is not the way Islam tells a woman to be. Usually reverts [as Muslim converts are called] are even more strict and zealous. They see Islam in black and white, unlike those of us who are born to it.’

Later that evening, after demanding that her husband come upstairs to bed, Mrs Ahmed claims she was shocked to see him emerging from Ms Booth’s room.

‘He said he’d just popped in to collect something and brushed aside my suspicions but I was shocked and furious with him,’ she said.

‘They looked like more than friends or business associates. I was devastated. It was killing me. I told Sohale that even though I knew he was not going to stop seeing her, she was not allowed back into my house.

‘He started going away on business for three and four days at a time, and sometimes being in London at weekends.’

Ms Booth later wed Sohale in a secret nikah, or religious ceremony. Such a ceremony is significant in faith terms but is not recognised as legal in Britain unless it takes place in another country where it is considered a legal way to marry.

Technically, Sohale’s faith permits him to take up to four wives but it is becoming more culturally acceptable to have just one.

Islamic law states a first wife should be informed about subsequent unions and while she cannot object, she should be given the opportunity to ask for a divorce.

But Ms Booth and Sohale kept their nuptials secret from Mrs Ahmed until February this year when she says he asked her for a divorce in a telephone call.

He also sent a text to say he was married.

If this is true, it would just reinforce what we already know about Booth’s character.

Meanwhile, it looks like Booth has removed her Facebook pages.

16:59 – Booth talks of coming to Tel Aviv airport wondering what she was doing there. But there’s no mention of getting cold feet upon landing, as she described here. There’s also now a mention of meeting Jamal the taxi driver, also strangely missing from previous versions.

In 2005, I went to Ramallah in the West Bank to interview of Mahmoud Abbas. I got cold feet on my flight to Tel Aviv. I was scared of Arabs. When the plane landed, I secretly hoped that the Israelis would send me back so I wouldn’t have to do the interview.”

22:24 – Booth talks of falling in love with the people of Palestine, giving an example of an old lady giving her a coat as a generosity she never experienced before in her life.  But if this made such an impression on her, how come she did not mention it in previous versions? For instance, compare to this one.

I spent five days in the West Bank. I never experienced such hospitality! This instant and unquestioning generosity toward a stranger was something new to me. Old ladies greeted me with open arms as if they had known me all my life. “Welcome!” they said, hugging me. “We will protect you if there is any attack here.”

23:54 – Booth talks of going back to “Palestine,” including a story with an old lady and Jamal the taxi driver. Again, a story strangely missing from previous versions.

0:00 – Booth talks of getting her first Quran, as well as drinking wine in front of a devout Muslim, both events that left indelible impressions on her. Again, you’d think these stories would have merited mentions in previous versions. Think again.
