Introducing our latest weapon: Zionist Death Bugs.TM

An International peace activist said on Saturday that he faces “torture” during his detention in an Israeli custody.

In a letter received today by Ramattan, Vittorio Arrigoni, (33) from Italy, said that the detention he lived “can be considered a real torture more than a punishment.”

The full text of the letter delivered to Ramattan:

Manifestly violating every human and civil right and against every international law, I spent the last six hours with Andrew locked in a piggish toilette full of fleas and parasites and without drinking water. This was the treatment we received because we announced a hunger strike in order to ask for the restitution of the fishing boats stolen to Palestinian fishermen offshore Gazan coasts when we were kidnapped by Israeli soldiers.

They took away the telephones we were given yesterday by our lawyer but, even more shameful and clearly violating international laws, they prevented us from getting in touch with our lawyers and with our consulates even though Andrew and I asked for it tenaciously many times.

In order to report these regrettable events I had to stop my hunger strike so that I could have back my telephone and pass on this reporting. Based on what I could hear before they separated us, Andrew will keep staying in that cell (absolutely non compliant with every standard of every convention about detention and human rights) as long as he will continue his hunger strike.

The detention I lived today and Andrew is still living can be considered a real torture more than a punishment.

It’s more than probable that Darlene, who is continuing her hunger strike, is suffering the same inhuman treatment.

I’m about to report this seriously severe event to the Italian, the Scottish and the American consulates.

It’s important being constantly informed about mental and physical conditions of our friends.

Tomorrow I will have to turn to urgent medical treatments to cure dozens of bites from insects and parasites which attack me every night leaving my body full of sores.

Vittorio Arrigoni, kidnapped in an Israeli prison in Ramle.

21st November 2008, 6 p.m. –end of the letter-

Interestingly enough, these terror supporters are being fed.

Must be to give the Zionist Death BugsTM more meat to feast on.

Mainstream Media Bias of the Day

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

The AFP reports:

Jewish settlers beat up Palestinian boy near Hebron

Bilal Daana was attacked by a group of settlers near the Jewish settlement of Kiryat Arba near Hebron. They beat him up and threw stones at him, the Palestinian medics said.

The boy was taken by Israeli soldiers to a checkpoint at the entrance to Hebron from where he was transferred to the local Al-Ahli hospital.

The incident was the latest in a surge of settler attacks on Palestinians, peace activists and Israeli soldiers since the authorities dismantled a settlement outpost near Hebron last month.

In other words, the headline and last paragraph convey what is essentially an allegation by palestinian medics as fact.

Interestingly enough, not all of the palestinian media outlets are reporting this incident, including Ramattan News and WAFA.

Meanwhile, here is how the palestinian Ma’an News reports it:

Israeli settlers wounded six-year-old Palestinian Bilal Da’na from Hebron after pelting the young boy with stones near the illegal Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arba, Palestinian sources in Hebron said.

Notice the difference between this version and the AFP version?

In the AFP version, the palestinian medics claimed that the “settlers” “beat him up and threw stones at him,” whereas the Ma’an version mentions only “pelting..with stones.” Which is it? Surely if the “settlers” had really beat up the child, the palestinian media would have mentioned this.

Sounds to me like the palestinian medics elaborated for the sake of the international media. And the international media were more than willing to report their version as fact.

Time may tell whether or not this palestinian boy was indeed injured by Jewish residents of Kiryat Arba. What is clear, though, is once again, the mainstream media are not reporting fairly or accurately.

Taking Sides

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Ramattan News reports on the opening of a “non-violence camp” in Bethlehem.

Supported by the European Union and including participants from countries such as Jordan, Israel, Spain, Italy, and Britain, as well as the PA-controlled territories, you would think it sounds like a good opportunity to bridge differences and promote mutual understanding, especially with this description:

The (non-violence camp) is one of ten projects which are receiving support from the European Union, to be implemented in Palestine through the EuroMed Youth programme.

The EuroMed Youth programme aims to strengthen the partnership between the European Union its neighbours, for the implementation of joint programmes focused on youth, and to promote mutual understanding between them.

The programme is a powerful took in the fight against racism, helps to reduce fear of the “other” and promotes active citizenship and the preservation of minority rights and opportunities for young people, as well as promoting the protection of heritage, culture and the environment.

However, further investigation reveals that this is not the case at all. In fact, it seems to promote an overtly pro-palestinian, one-sided view of things.

The project aims to discuss the problem of violence in communities and its causes, and attempts to reach solutions and procedural steps, through the exchange of experiences and views between participants from different countries.

The EC added that the activities aim at reducing or even eliminating this phenomenon within communities and to help non-violence to become part of the mainstream culture in societies.

“During the camp there will be visits to refugee camps and Palestinian cities, like Hebron and Jericho, in order to witness the daily life of Palestinian society and the daily suffering caused by the wall and settlements and bypass roads, and to visit historical and religious sites in Palestine,” the EC said in a statement received by Ramattan.

Given the unreliability of Ramattan News Agency, I went straight to the source to determine whether or not they were misrepresenting the camp. They’re not.

Draft Programme (may be subject to small modifications)

—-

Monday 3 November
7:00- 9:00 Wake Up & Breakfast
9 :00– 17:00 Trip to Bethlehem refugee camps, bypass roads, settlements, and the wall: the trip also include some surrounding villages like Al-Khader and some important historical and religious sites like the Solomon Pools, Church of the Nativity and Shepherds’ Field in Beit Sahour. Such trip will better inform local participants (Palestinian from the West Bank and from inside the green line) about the situations in neighbouring communities since residents of the different areas in the West Bank does not know exactly the situations in other areas due to movement restrictions between cities. Such trips will also better orient international participants to the problems posed by the Occupation on local communities thus having a clearer pictures of what is going on.

—-

Wednesday 5 November
7 :00-9:00 Wake Up & Breakfast
9:00 – 17 :00 Trip to the Dead Sea & Jericho: the aim of this trip is more of a leisure activity and entertainment to participants. However through this trip participants will also have the chance to see Wadi Al-nar street thus experience the difficulties Palestinians face in their daily life trying to move from one place to another. Participants will also visit important sites like Mount of Temptation.

Thursday 6 November

7:00-9:00 Wake Up & Breakfast
9:00- 17:30 Day Off: international participants would make use of this day to do some personal shopping, or some personal visits like visiting Jerusalem for example which is not scheduled among our field trips because some of the local participants may not have permits to enter Jerusalem.

—-

Saturday 8 November

7:00 -9:00 Wake Up & Breakfast
9:00 – 17:00 Field Trip to Hebron: this trip also aims at exposing participants to the daily Palestinian lives by visiting neighbouring villages near the settlements and hearing real stories form people living there. The visit will also include the Old City of Hebron where participants will have lunch, do some shopping, and visit some of the historical sites like the Tomb of the Patriarchs/Al-Haram Al-Ibrahimi Mosque.

Notice that there is no effort to see the Israeli side of things. And even the “leisure activities” such as visiting the Dead Sea are politicized.

Of course, this is not a surprise, given the involvement of an organization like the Holy Land Trust. However, given that this project is being funded by the European Commission/EU, it raises further questions about the EU and its role in the Middle East peace process. Quite simply, the EU seems to be siding with the palestinians, promoting their narrative, and doing anything but promote mutual understanding and respect.

sonia-al-rai Media Bias of the Day

Palestinian former-prisoner Sonia al-Rai smiles surrounded by friends and family at the Jalama checkpoint near the West Bank city of Jenin on October 26, 2008, after being released from an Israeli jail after 11 years. Sonia al-Rai, 40, held longer than any other female inmate in an Israeli jail, was released today and met by friends and relatives amid celebrations at the Jalama checkpoint near Jenin. Rai was arrested in 1997 after she attempted to attack an Israeli soldier.

Leaving aside the fact this woman looks constipated, what is interesting is the caption. You’d be forgiven for thinking that perhaps Israel was being a bit harsh. 11 years for attempting to attack a soldier? What did she do anyway? Throw rocks at them?

The answer is found on the website of the PFLP, the terrorist organization to which she belongs.

She carried out a military operation on the ninth anniversary of the martyrdom of her brother, shooting Israeli occupation soldiers and border guards at the Al-Karama crossing (Allenby Bridge). Comrade Souna noted that since a young age she was committed to the promise of undertaking a military operation in honor of her brother and in retaliation against the occupation for its ongoing crimes against our people. She spoke to the ability and the heritage of Palestinian women’s participation in all forms of struggle, noting the Palestinian women heroes and martyrs - comrade Leila Khaled, Dalal al-Mughrabi, Shadia abu Ghazalah, and many other heroes, martyrs and prisoners.

In other words, this was not some spontaneous, lashing out against some soldier. This was an orchestrated terrorist attack designed to kill.

Update: The palestinian Ramattan News Agency does not even mention an attack, instead stating that she was arrested “for her activities in the Intifada and membership of the PFLP.”

Update: AP actually gets it right with this caption.

Released Palestinian prisoner Sonia Al Rai, 40, is carried by family and supporters after crossing the Israeli army’s Jalameh Checkpoint near the West Bank city of Jenin, Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008. Al Rai was released at the end of a 12-year sentence for attempting to kill an Israeli soldier on the Allenby Bridge border crossing that connects Jordan to the West Bank. Today’s Stabbing Attack

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

A palestinian terrorist today murdered an 86-year-old man, and wounded a police officer, in a stabbing attack in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo.

Here’s what went down:

A young Arab man murdered a civilian and injured a police officer in Jerusalem’s Gilo neighborhood on Thursday morning.

The 86-year-old citizen was critically injured and evacuated to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in the capital, where he died of his wounds. The police officer, 32, sustained light to moderate wounds and was evacuated to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.

The terrorist sustained moderate to serious wounds in his stomach after being shot by the injured policeman. He was also taken to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.

According to an initial report, the incident began when two police officers detained the young Arab man for a security check, but he pulled out a knife and stabbed one of them. The injured policeman pulled out his gun, shot and injured the terrorist, who fled the scene with the knife in his hand.

The assailant went on to stab the civilian, before being captured by another citizen and a municpal inspector.

Yoav Mizrahi, the citizen who captured the terrorist, recounted the incident. “I arrived with my car and saw an Arab man on the street fighting with the policeman. I stopped the car, when suddenly the guy pulled out a knife and began stabbing the policeman, who tried to defend himself. I ran and called out to him…

“The officer fell down, got up and fired at the fleeing terrorist before collapsing on the ground. While escaping, the Arab stabbed an elderly man walking across from him and that man collapsed.

“The terrorist continued running, and I ran after him and yelled at him to stop in Arabic. About 150 meters later I caught him from behind, dropped him to the ground and held on to him together with an inspector until the security forces arrived.”

The palestinians are predictably reporting this attack in their “unique” way.

  • IMEMC reports today’s victim as the terrorist, who they say was killed after “allegedly” killing an “Israeli settler.” They also fabricate the words of an Israeli witness, who they claim said he saw the palestinian “accidently hit an elderly man causing him to fall on the ground.”
  • Ma’an News also tries to turn the palestinians into the victims with their report under the headline Israeli forces invade Tuqu, threaten to demolish house of man involved in fatal Gilo stabbing. They are also reporting the victim as being only 60 years of age.
  • Palestine News Network does the same thing, focusing on the IDF reprisals. They also make no mention of the elderly man being killed, claiming instead that “an Israeli settler and police officer..were moderately injured.”
  • Ramattan makes it sound like a quarrel gone wrong, reporting “the Arab citizen quarreled with the guards of the settlements then they fought.” They also make it sound like the victim was somehow wounded as he passed by, rather than deliberately stabbed.

Updates to follow.

Updates (Israel time)

6:08PM: Honest Reporting have some examples of media bias in the reports of the attack from the usual suspects BBC, Reuters and AFP.

6:25PM: The victim has been identified as 86-year-old Jerusalem resident Abraham Ozeri.

Wisdom of the Stairs

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

You are probably all familar with the cliched cover-up of spousal violence. When asked about the bruises over her body, the physically abused wife claims she fell down the stairs.

In the palestinian world, things work in exactly the opposite way. Take this Ramattan News Agency report on the death of a 60-year-old palestinian woman:

Israeli soldiers have beaten to death a Palestinian woman late on Thursday in Jerusalem, witnesses and Palestinian medical sources said.

Witnesses told Ramattan the Israeli soldiers have beaten Maryam Ayyad, aged around 60, when she tried to prevent them to arrest Palestinian students rent property she owns in the village of Abu Dies in Jerusalem.

They pointed out that the soldiers shoved the woman to the ground and beaten her on the head to death.

Palestinian medical sources said that the old woman died as she was struck in the head.

As it turns out, she likely did fall down some stairs.

An Israeli military spokesman denied this, saying Ayyad fell down some stairs while troops searched nearby but that there was no physical contact between them at the time.

“A military medical unit spent 30 minutes trying to revive her but had to declare her dead. During the resuscitation efforts, her family said she had suffered from heart problems,” the spokesman said.

Ayyad’s family decided against an autopsy and buried her before dawn, said Musa Jaffal, a doctor at a local clinic. Jaffal said Ayyad suffered from diabetes and hypertension.

Nesrin Jasan, an Abu Dis doctor who inspected Ayyad’s body, said she had fallen and struck her head.

Of course, none of this matters to the palestinian news outlets, whose sole aim is to poison the palestinians and the rest of the world against Israel.

Palestinians Heart McCain?

Friday, September 19th, 2008

If this report about a palestinian poll is anything to go by:

A new Palestinian public poll revealed on Wednesday that 33.5% of the Palestinians are in favor of Mr. John Mc Cain as a presidential candidate in the US elections, and 66.6 % evaluated their economic situation as ‘bad’.

The results of a public poll conducted in the period from (1-10) September 2008, by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion (PCPO) show that poll results revealed (33.5 %) are at present in favor of Mr. John McCain, the candidate of the US Republicans, as the coming President of the United States of America, whilst Mr.

Barack Obama, the candidate of the Democratic Party, scored (27.7 %). (30.4 %) of the Palestinians said they “favor neither of them” and (8.3 %) declined to answer.

I cannot for the life of me understand why more palestinians would favor McCain over Obama, nor why they would favor McCain over “neither candidate.”

I guess Palin really was an inspired choice.

Unless, of course, anyone else smells a rat.

Rubbing Salt Water Into the Wound

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Introducing our latest weapon: Zionist Inanimate Object Wounder.TM

It wounds.

It destroys.

It wounds and destroys.

An Israeli military boat hit, on Wednesday night, a Palestinian fishing boat near Gaza beach, the boat was wounded and the boat was destroyed.

Chief of fishermen syndicate, Nezar Ayesh said that the Israeli navy always attack Palestinian fishermen and prevent them to enter for long distances into the sea.

“4 Palestinian fishing boats could rescue the wounded fisherman and pulling the remains of his small boat,” Ayesh said.

The wounded fisherman, Ahmad Al-Hessy told Ramattan that he was 3 – 4 miles from Gaza beach to fish, but suddenly a big Israeli boat hit my boat, destroying it.

“The sea is the only place for us to earn living, and Israel always stands an obstacle on our way,” Hessy said.

And in case you were wondering, this story has not been reported elsewhere.

Form your own conclusion.

Flying Mortars and Pigs

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Palestinian terrorists have killed an Israeli, and wounded 4 others, in a mortar shell attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz in the western Negev. A subsequent IAF attack against terrorists in the Gaza Strip has reportedly resulted in the death of a palestinian child.

Unfortunately, these palestinian terror attacks are a daily occurrence, yet people only really take notice when there are casualties. And then it is forgotten again until the next deadly attack.

What I have found particularly interesting is the way the attack - and Israel’s response - has been reported. The AP report starts with this sentence.

An Israeli missile aimed at a group of militants struck a house and killed a 6-year-old Palestinian girl Thursday, Palestinian officials said, hours after an Israeli was killed by a Hamas mortar barrage fired from the area.

In other words, they seem to be quoting palestinians who acknowledge the IAF missile was not aimed at civilians, but rather “militants”!

Ha’aretz reports in a similar vein.

Hamas security said the Israeli aircraft targeted a group of militants in the southern Gaza Strip but missed them. Relatives of the girl said that she and her mother were in the yard of a house that was hit by the errant missile.

Again, we seem to have an acknowledgment from palestinians - in this case Hamas security and the girl’s relatives - that the IAF missile was not aimed at civilians.

Whether this is really a case of palestinian admission that Israel is targeting the terrorists only, or rather just the result of the report’s wording does not really matter. It is certainly a change from what we usually read in the mainstream media.

But if you think that’s amazing, check out how the anti-Israel, palestinian Ramattan News Agency reported the day’s events:

ramattan-terrorist21 Flying Mortars and Pigs

Not even Fox News uses the “T” word.

I’m sure someone’s head is going to roll over that one.
