You may recall Israel’s attempted assassination of Hamas terrorist Abdel Aziz Rantisi, which was followed by a homicide bombing in Jerusalem the next day. At the time, Hamas claimed that the bombing was a response to the attempted hit, a position reinforced by the Palestinian Authority, as well as major media outlets. Israel insisted that there was no connection between the two.

As usual, Israel’s view has been confirmed.

The Jerusalem Arab accomplice of the Hamas suicide bomber who blew up a No. 14A bus in June has confessed that the attack was not connected with the botched assassination attempt on Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantisi the day before, police said Monday.

The man revealed that the bombing had been carefully planned a month in advance, despite Hamas claims that it was in retaliation for the failed IAF missile strike on Rantisi.
