And still on the topic of the ISM, another excerpt from their training pack:
If the Israeli military is a racist institution, please explain why it accepts people of different colors and races, including Ethiopians, Druze and Bedouin. But on the subject of racism by institutions, maybe the ISM can explain this:What special concerns should I have as a person of color planning to go to Palestine?
The Israeli Military is certainly a racist institution. Be prepared, upon arriving at Ben Gurion airport, to be taken aside and questioned. As with Arab-American activists, it will be important in some situations to work with other groups of internationals, for a higher level of “collective privilege”.
And this:“The Jews always set a trap for the community of Muslims… The Koran repeatedly warns against the traps and plots of the ‘people of the book.’ They relentlessly scheme in all times and places and this is what they do today and tomorrow against the Muslim camp.”
Not to mention this:“Whoever comes in contact with the banks discovers that they act in Shylock’s way…. We do not want Shylock-style banks that empty our pockets, but national banks; we have had enough of the Shylock of the lands and settlements.”
The Palestinian Authority’s official newspaper, al-Ayyam, on Sunday launched a scathing attack on US National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice, making derogatory remarks about the color of her complexion and the fact that she’s a woman.
In an article entitled “Beware of the Lady of Steel,” prominent Palestinian columnist Hasan al-Batal describes Rice as a “black widow” and a “single black lady.”
Earlier this year, al-Ayyam launched a similar attack on Rice, dubbing her a “black raven.”
Sunday’s article also included insults directed against former US Secretary of State “Henry [Kissinger] the Jew.”
