Reader Jeremy sends me further proof of the ISM’s idiocy:
Jeremy ends his email by clarifying something for an Australian idiot like myself:They scheduled their stupid conference at OSU the weekend of Nov. 8th, which just happens to be the same weekend as an Ohio State football game (on Saturday). This means there won’t be any parking available anywhere near Campus on Saturday, when they have a lot of their programs scheduled, and traffic in and around campus will be snarled and restricted for hours. Most people avoid going anywhere near OSU on gamedays for just that reason, but the geniuses at ISM plan on bringing in a bunch of out-of-towners. They’ll be in a surprise, I think. Not to mention that they’re going to have a rather difficult time finding hotel rooms, and the local media will be focused almost entirely on the football game. Nothing is more important in central Ohio than Buckeye football, and nobody’s going to want to be bothered by a buch of dipshit radicals from out of town. Anything other than football isn’t going to get much more than passing media coverage that weekend. It’s probably one of the two worst weekends they could have scheduled it during autumn quarter. What idiots.
Incidentally, the OSU football headcoach, Jim Tressel, signed a “We support Israel” petition last spring. It was a real “coup” for the student group who published the petition, as Jim Tressel is probably the most popular figure in Ohio right now. That Jim Tressel, who a lot of folks around worship like a god ever since he won the national championship last year, supports Israel will likely make an impression on local folks who don’t know much about the Middle East.
Thanks mate!ps. By football, I mean the version with the funny shaped ball.
