A guy by the name of Jason Sandery sent me this email:
Not appreciating this comment, or any attempt to justify this view, I replied as follows:You might of been born here but you are far from being an aussie.
Ok, not the wittiest comeback of all time, but summarized my mood at the time. Mr Sandery has since replied:Why do you say that without knowing me? Because you disagree with my opinions? Your intolerance, plus cowardice in not posting this as a comments on my site, make you far from being an Aussie.
I just sent the following reply:There is no cowardice. I just couldn’t be bothered posting. (Apathy being the true aussie national sport).
Your opinions just sound like that of a little kid who cries cause someone fights back after being pushed around.
I’m fine with the fact you have your own opinion. You’re entitled to you and good luck to you.
I just take umbrage with the fact your still claming to be an “aussie” whilst you support the forced and illegal occupation of another country. That to me make you an citizen of Israel , but that’s my opinion.
You can do what you want I really don’t give a sh*t.
Nor do I have some idea that I am going to sway your idea.
Just stop complaining about people trying to blow you to bits after all that’s happened.
Cheers,
Jason.
Mr Sandery,
First of all, thank you for being fine with the fact that I have my own opinion. It is the bi-product of living in a democratic country in which people are free to express themselves, without being jailed or killed.
Also, please accept my apology for “sounding like a little kid who cries”. I’ll leave that to the real children who are without parents, siblings or limbs as a result of the wave of terror attacks that have gripped Israel.
I am not going to go through the facts behind the middle east conflict because your narrow mindedness is evident from your previous emails. Suffice to say, your grossly simplistic and inaccurate depiction of the conflict as being between the bully Israel and the weak, dispossessed palestinians displays a profound ignorance on your part.
Even with your false view of the conflict, I am utterly disgusted with your implied justification of the suicide bombings that have killed and maimed hundreds of innocent people. I will never stop complaining about this, and neither will all other moral, freedom-loving people from around the world. So deal with it.
As to your opinion that being a citizen of Israel means I am not an Aussie, you can label me whatever you want. I was born in Australia, lived there for 26 years, and am still very fond of it. I consider myself an Aussie, and so does the Australian government. Just like you are still regarded as being an Aussie, even though you accuse Australians of being apathetic.
Finally, may I make the suggestion that if you don’t like my complaining, then don’t read my blog.
David
