This is by far the best essay on anti-Semitism I have ever read, and it is written by none other than Natan Sharansky who is anything but a “scummy politician.” Meryl certainly agrees with me.
Providing an excerpt from the essay is proving difficult, because there are so many memorable passages. Here is one I have chosen because it is relatively short, yet striking in its message.
An anti-Semite claimed that the Jews had caused the war; the reply was: Yes, the Jews and the bicyclists. Why the bicyclists? asks the one. Why the Jews? asks the other.
But don’t take my word for it – read it for yourself.
