How remiss of me to forget to wish all of my readers a happy Hannukah.
Or should that be Chanukah? (link via Gil)
The story of Hannukah involves only one flask of pure oil being found in the Temple. But, due to a miracle, this flask of oil (which should only have lasted for one day) was used to light the Menorah in the Temple for eight days. So it is ironic that upon returning from our Sabbath with my in-laws in Beit-El, my wife and I should find that the electricity in our apartment was shut off. Upon further invesigation by the electricity company worker, it was discovered that water had seeped into the electricity control box. It seems that our brand new apartment may not have been entirely finished (I suspect some missing tiles in the roof, allowing water in).
So what did we end up doing last night? We lit some candles and used their light to navigate around the house. Another Hannukah miracle!
