Noam Chomsky’s new book gets savaged by The Age reviewer. And I think this sums up how much the reviewer hated it.
Hegemony and Survival is badly organised, poorly argued and written with all the skill of an undergraduate essay finished on the last night of term with the help of caffeine. For all the copious reading in which Chomsky clearly engages, and for all the intelligence that so illuminates some of his other works, a weekís worth of columns in, say, The New York Times provides better argument and analysis of the massive failure of American understanding of the world.
Now that’s an insult!
