An utterly predictable and fiskworthy response to the Yassin killing by Aussie blogger “Niall” Cook.
It Must Stop! With regard to the assassination of the spiritual leader of Hamas, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin by the State of Israel..
But no mention of him being the head of a terrorist group dedicated to the destruction of Israel. Not a good start, Niall.
..I would merely say that a continuation of a policy of targeted assassination must surely be doing little for the peace of mind of your average Israeli citizen.
That is the problem with “merely saying”. You tend to get things wrong. I live in Israel, and know that the average Israeli was happy about the hit.
There are numerous arguments for and against the legality and morality of this policy of the Sharon Government, just as there are pro’s and con’s in the argument for the long-term benefits to Israel.
And there are also numerous people that do not correctly use apostrophes. What is your point?
Israel is a nation of five million citizens, surrounded by some 300 million Arabs. At some point in time, attrition alone must surely force both sides of this issue to stop and review.
Let me review…300 million mostly hostile Arabs surrounding 5 million Jews. I wonder why they don’t just attempt to liquidate us? I know – we have defeated them in every war they have waged against us, and know we will do it again, rather than lie down and accept our fate like the Niall’s of the world would recommend.
To my mind, targeted assassination by Israel keeps them at the same level as the suicide bombers they hope to defeat.
Morality lesson from Nial: Killing a terrorist who has been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent people is morally equivalent to deliberately murdering innocent men, women and children.
Cutting a head from the hydra simply allows another to take its place. State sanctioned killing, terrorism if you will, enacted by either side of the Palestinian debate, has no place in a civilised world.
Niall believes that defending your citizens is terrorism. He also fails to realize that there won’t be much of a civilized world left if you give in to the terrorists.
The same might be said for those who pretend their support for either side of the debate.
I see. You can only “pretend” to support in this conflict. Now allow me to continue with my pretend-fisking.
What Israel has done is wrong. What Hamas, PLO, Fatah or any other Palestinian organisation perpetrates in response is wrong. There are no winners in this ongoing tit-for-tat, only losers.
According to Niall, PLO Arab terrorism is only reactive, whereas Israel’s response to terror is really the root cause of the terrorism itself.
Thanks but no thanks for the morality lesson, Niall.
