Yet another example of PLO Arab lies.
Yasser Afatrat’s State (Dis)Information Service website reported the following:
A Jewish Rabbi sent a letter to the Israeli Prime Minister in which he harshly criticized his decision to kill Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, the spiritual leader and founder of Hamas movement, in a time where demonstrators marched in several world capitals denouncing the assassination of Sheikh Yassin.
Rabbi Menahem Fruman sent a letter of protest to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, in which he wondered whether the killing of a Muslim cleric would contribute into reaching peace between the leaders of those religions. Fruman’s letter, which was published on the “Peace Now” Israeli movement’s website, decried the assassination of Sheikh Ahmad Yassin and wondered about the Israeli motives behind this crime.
As usual, the truth is something else entirely.
IMRA contacted Rabbi Menachem Froman from the Jewish community of Tekoa
located beyond the Green Line to verify the official PA website article (see
below) that claimed that he protested the killing of Sheikh Yassin. Rabbi
Froman said that he did not protest the killing of Sheikh Yassin.
“I believe that we should strive for peace between Judaism and Islam through
dialogue, but sometimes that dialogue is not with kid gloves. The killing of
Sheikh Yassin can make a positive contribution to the dialogue if the other
Moslem leaders get the message that they should refrain from violence.”
